“If you can’t get your exercise in, do it with your kids”
Love the enthusiasm of this statement, but I think it’s a BIT optimistic.
While I do my 30 minute BOD workouts most days, it’s usually in the morning when they are in bed or while their playing.
When the join in it’s good fun but more often than not they don’t.
But when we do exercise together, hiking, football, silly races and twister (yes, twisters basically Yoga) we have great fun!!
But at the moment Evie just wants to look cute and play with her farting hippo. It’s the simple things!

Heading out to eat over the festive period and beyond?
Here’s some top tips I learned from my coach Melissa McAlister on how to do Lower carbs and make them work anywhere. Here are 6 tips to ensure success:

1. Eliminate the starch
Bounce the bread. Pass on the pasta. Purge the potatoes. Refuse the rice. Keep temptation off your plate by ordering your meal without the starchy sides.
¥ If ordering a main, most restaurants will substitute a salad or extra veggies for the starch.
¥ If ordering a sandwich or burger, some restaurants will substitute lettuce wraps for the bun.
¥ If they will not substitute, simply eliminate the unwanted item, regardless.
If, in spite of careful ordering, your plate arrives with a starchy side, consider your options. If you are certain you can leave it there, untouched, feel free. If you will be tempted to eat some of it, immediately ask the waiter to replate the meal without the starch. If you are at a more casual place, take care of the unwanted food yourself by discarding it in the trash.
If you feel you must explain yourself (to the waiter or your fellow diners), simply suggest stomach issues or a restrictive diet.

2. Add healthy fat
Restaurant meals can be low in fat, making it hard to feel satisfied without eating carbs. But this problem can be fixed.
¥ Ask for extra butter and melt it on veggies or meat.
¥ Ask for olive oil and vinegar dressing and drizzle the oil liberally on salads and your meal.
¥ Some restaurants serve cheaper vegetable oils (full of omega 6 fat) rather than olive oil. This isn’t healthy, unfortunately. To avoid this, many seasoned low-carb eaters carry a small bottle of olive oil with them.(I haven’t got this far yet...)

3. Keep an eye on sauces and condiments
Some sauces, like Béarnaise sauce, contain mostly fat. Others, like ketchup, contain mostly carbs. Gravies can go either way.
If you are unsure about the sauce, ask about the ingredients and avoid it if it contains sugar or flour. It’s always better to ask for the sauce on the side so you can decide how much to add to your meal. Personally, I like my food pretty naked as opposed to being covered with sauces, gravies or cheese.

4. Choose drinks with care
Perfect drinks are water, sparkling water, tea, or coffee.
If you chose to add an alcoholic beverage, champagne, dry wine, light beer, or spirits – straight or with soda – are all great low-carb choices.

5. Rethink dessert
Are you really still hungry? If not, preferably enjoy a nice cup of decaf/coffee or tea while you wait for others to finish their sweets. If you are hungry and need more food, look for a berries and cream dessert. You might get lucky. However, sometimes just cream or butter in your coffee is enough to satisfy.(Yes I said butter!!Look up bulletproof coffee).

6. Get creative if necessary
If nothing on the menu seems to work for you, feel free to improvise.
¥ What about the Spaghetti Bolognese item – could the restaurant serve just the sauce in a bowl, like soup, with a large serving of sautéed veggies on the side? Both would be perfect sprinkled with Parmesan cheese! YUM!
¥ Or, maybe order two or three appetizers? A salad paired with a prawn cocktail and a sampler meat and cheese plate makes a delicious low-carb dinner.
Just ask – you’re the customer, and the customer is always right.

I love vegetables!!!
If we all added more vegetables in our life, we would get wayyyy more nutrition into our diet.
Not only do vegetables provide our vitamins and mineral requirements but they also provide fibre.
I also believe that seasonal vegetables are pure food, they are from the earth 🌏 and keep us connected to the earth!!
If in doubt about what to do to improve your diet, keep it simple at first and add more vegetables!!!

Children and chickens 🐓
There’s nothing more enjoyable than going for a walk with Evie.
Not only is it a lesson in patience but she also teaches me to be mindful and see the beauty in nature.
She spent a long time looking for red berries and enjoying fallen leaves 🍁 and beautiful colours.
That’s all that was in her mind, what was happening now. If she fell over she got back up, unembarrassed.
I’m going to be more Evie today!!

Our four legged probiotics
Meow, meow 🐱, meow...
Bark, bark 🐕....
Feed me, pet me, love me!!
After a long day it’s lovely to come home to these creatures who want nothing more than to spend time with you.
Did you know having a pet in the house can actually boost your immunity!!!
Basically a dog is a four legged probiotic!!
The more sterile our environment the more our immune system becomes hyperactive to minor allergens.
In comes mans best friend and basically wags his probiotic tail and introduces friendly bacteria colonies, which in turn boost our immune system.

However I still don’t condone rolling on the bed after rubbing around to fragrant fox 🦊 poo!!!

Admit it or not we all worry.
Big things
Small things
Things we said we wish we didn’t....

This is normal.

What’s not normal is letting your worries run away with you.
When you can’t enjoy or focus on what’s happening in the moment.
Spirialing, strung out and exhausted.

This was me, and still sometimes is me.

I hate this part of me but sometimes it’s here without warning and leaves like a thief in the night but through feeding my love of exercise and movement the sometimes become less and less frequent.

I can change, we all can. ❤️

Who’s new to exercise??
I’ve been doing beachbody for 5 years, with pregnancy breaks, lazy breaks and demotivated breaks!!!
Since I’ve started working as a coach with beachbody my support and accountability is bringing my fitness and health to a whole new level.

You know I’m all about food as medicine.
Hippocrates was spot on in 400BC when he recognised this.
His advice was that people were to treat and prevent disease and ailment by feeding their body a nutrient dense diet.
We all need calories to survive, but all calories are not created equal.
The foods you include in your diet control inflammation levels,balance blood sugar, regulate cardiovascular health (including blood pressure and cholesterol levels), help the digestive organs to process and eliminate waste, and much, much more.
We wouldn’t put crappy diesel or petrol in our cars..... why do we do the same to our bodies??

Did you know broccoli has anti ageing benefits???
I do enjoy broccoli and the kids love to eat it raw.

You can chop it finely and add it to salads and omelettes, chop it into florets and put it in stir fry’s and soups and of course steam it and have it as veg on the side!!
