Navigating care can be stressful and confusing. πŸ₯Ί

At Home Instead we like to make sure our clients and their loved ones know about all the help that's available locally to make their care journey as easy as possible to navigate. 😊

This week we found out about Access Social Care, who provide direct support to those with care needs and we met with Angela, their local Peer Support Navigator. πŸ™

Access Social Care provides free legal advice and information for people with social care needs and helps them to achieve a better quality of life.

Visit their website to find out how they can help you - https://www.accesscharity.org.uk/what-we-do

🌞🎢 What an afternoon! 🎢🌞

Last week's Summer Singalong Frinton Community Association at Soken House was pure magic – a heart-warming blend of joy, laughter, and the beautiful power of music! 🎀❀️

We brought together our wonderful Home Alone Seniors and amazing Singing for the Brain guests for a truly unforgettable afternoon. From classic tunes to spontaneous dancing, the room was buzzing with connection, friendship, and fun. 🌟

Singing really does something special – it lifts the spirits, gets the happy hormones flowing, and brings people together in the most powerful way. πŸŽ΅πŸ’«

Huge thanks to everyone who came along, sang their hearts out, and filled the space with love and laughter, a special thanks to our wonderful volunteers. These moments remind us just how important community and togetherness really are. πŸ’•πŸ‘΅πŸ‘΄πŸŽΆ

πŸ“Έ Swipe through to see the smiles, the tunes, and all the joy!

🌟 Shoutout to Our Amazing Trainer! 🌟

It’s not every day you hear β€œthat training was actually fun!”—but with our Learning and Development Trainer, Maria Eastwood that's the norm. As one of our wonderful care professionals kindly pointed out!

A huge thank you to Maria for bringing energy, heart, and humour into every session. Learning can sometimes feel overwhelming, but Maria turns it into something our team genuinely looks forward to. She connects, inspires, and make training not only informative but enjoyable.

We’re lucky to have you on the team! πŸ’™πŸ‘

We are looking forward to our Summer Sing-along tomorrow at Frinton Community Association at Soken House.

We have around 50 guests joining us and a fab list of songs for everyone to join in with. Our wonderful volunteers are busy baking as I type, so there'll be some delicious cakes on offer. We even have a Singo Bingo game and 'Where did you get that hat?' competition.

If you would like to join us there are still a few places available, but please call to book your spot, before they all go. Call Jo on 01255 672 269.

Sharing information and resources is a great way of helping one another, particularly those caring for a loved one living with long-term health condition such as Alzheimer's.

At yesterday's carers support group at Frinton Community Association at Soken House we heard about a device called the Beech Band. So we thought we'd share what we found out, in case it can be of help to you, your loved one, friend or neighbour.

The Beech Band is a low-cost, hands-free, non-invasive wearable device designed to support people with Parkinson's.

It works by emitting a gentle, audible buzz and pulsating vibrations that provide a calming, tactile sensation. This helps distract the brain, making it easier to manage everyday tasks.

While the Beech Band is not a cure or quick fix, users have reported relief from mobility issues, stress, and communication difficulties. Though it may not work for everyone, many are experiencing benefits, and support is available for those who try it.

We dropped in on Brenda and Angela's carers support group this morning at Frinton Community Association at Soken House. πŸ‘Œ

These monthly sessions provide unpaid carers looking after loved ones with an informal, welcoming space to share experiences, laugh, chat, unwind and gain helpful advice and tips from others who understand. πŸ’–πŸ™πŸ«Ά

Brenda's husband Bill has Parkinson's, Bill used to run the local support group. In August they're celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary by holding a fundraising bash for Parkinson's UK. If you fancy a night out for a good cause, get your tickets and show your support. πŸ‘πŸ˜

β˜•πŸŒŠ Coffee, Catch Ups & Coastal Sunshine! πŸŒžπŸ’¬

Yesterday we joined some of our amazing care professionals to take a well-deserved break for a beach hut coffee and catch up β€” sharing some much-needed downtime. πŸ’™

In the midst of always caring for others, it’s so important to take a moment for us β€” to relax, recharge, and enjoy the company of colleagues who truly understand the heart of the work we do.

Grateful for the sunshine, the smiles, and the strong sense of community that keeps us going. Here's to connection, care, and coastal vibes! πŸ–οΈβœ¨

Thank you to Sailship Training and Learning for Life for hosting our home alone seniors and volunteers this morning through their 'Grow a Friendship' Project. 🫢 Also to Catherine at Kinder Essex Tendring for supporting this trip out and our volunteers for driving. πŸ™

Our guests enjoyed having a go at acrylic stone painting, whilst enjoying the beautiful gardens. They then feasted on a home-grown Ploughman's lovingly prepared by the students, washed down with home-made elderflower cordial and a yummy Victoria sponge. 🍰😁
