We will be welcoming local choir SingalongaPen, to our monthly Community Sing-along on Thursday 21st May at Frinton Community Association at Soken House .

This fun group are made up of people who have been told that can't sing, those with breathing difficulties and in fact anyone who wants to join them. We will be welcoming them with open arms and hoping they have lots of great tunes to join in with. 🎤👩‍🎤👨🏼‍🎤

This week is particularly pertinent to our dementia friendly singalongs, as it's Dementia Action Week - a time to raise awareness of this life-changing condition. It's so important to all those living with dementia, newly diagnosed, cared for and carers, that we talk about dementia, and our community is dementia inclusive.

We look forward to welcoming all those who want to join in the joy of singing together.

We are so proud of our wonderful Care Professional, Joanne, who received this lovely feedback from a client’s daughter thanking her for the patience and understanding she shows towards her mum.

Living with dementia can bring challenging situations, but putting ourselves in the shoes of those we support helps us respond with compassion, reassurance, and dignity. I have been very impressed with the service and the team who have been going into my mum. It’s only been a few weeks, but the difference in has been amazing.

The care, patience and understanding has made a real difference, particularly during difficult moments. It gives me a lot of reassurance knowing Mum is in such supportive and capable hands.

Next week (18th-24th May) is Dementia Action Week aimed at raising awareness of Dementia by sharing the stories behind the Forget Me Not - the symbolic blue flower used to honour those affected by the condition.

We will be sharing the stories of our franchise owner, Jean Allen and her dad Mike, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2025, and Karen Barber, whose Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinson's symptoms started to affect her life over a decade ago. Karen now runs the local Young Minds Dementia Group in a bid to support others facing their diagnosis with dementia.

These lovely Forget Me Not badges, have been carefully created by the Essex Knitters & Stitchers to support Karen's 'Music and Afternoon Tea' event on the 21st May. We will be there along with other local businesses and support networks - drop in, all are welcome. Thank you Community Voluntary Services Tendring for welcoming our lovely client, Summer, along to your Kennedy Way Community Garden today - despite the rain, Summer always brings the sunshine. 🏡👩‍🌾

Summer was accompanied by her Care Professionals as they enjoyed this little oasis in the middle of the Medical Centre's car park. The beautiful gardens, the wonderful handmade wood carvings, plants, raffles, tombola's - a real coming together of the community for a May Day Celebration. 🐞🌿🌷🌻
