Day trip adventures in our mini bus with our Frome family!

Frome Nursing Home and Catherine House Care Home joined together for a visit to the Somerset Rural Life Museum , followed by lunch at Morrisons in Glastonbury.

Family member Philip made the day extra special, he told us he'd visited before with his late wife and had always hoped to go again. We're so glad we could be part of that.

These moments remind us why we do what we do 🥰

A few more snapshots from the past week. We have been enjoying the garden with our families, a trip to the market, some good food, and a surprise visit from a rather large snake! 🐍

We took a trip out to Catley’s Garden Centre recently and it turned into one of those days that just stayed with us. 🌿🌸

There was a lot of time spent choosing plants (and a fair bit of advice being shared along the way), a few laughs over lunch, and a well-timed stop at McDonald’s that had clearly been planned from the start.

It wasn’t anything complicated, just a proper day out. The kind where you get back a bit tired, but already talking about doing it again.

We’ve shared a little more about it here if you’d like to read:

Happy St George's Day! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Today we visited the fantastic Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton with some family members from Frome Nursing Home . This museum is Europe's largest naval aviation museum! From exploring cockpits to getting up close with historic aircraft, there was so much to discover across 100 years of naval aviation history.

The most special part of today was sharing it with Barry, one of our wonderful volunteers. Barry joined us in memory of his beloved mum Gladys, who lived with us and passed away two years ago at the remarkable age of 105. It was a truly touching day out.

Thank you Barry for joining us. 💛

Happy Earth Day! 🌱

A trolley slowly filling with plants, someone choosing colours that felt right, and a bit of time spent outside deciding where everything should go.

Back at home, hands in soil and flowers finding their place in the courtyard.

Thank you to Tropical Discovery Workshops for bringing in some very unexpected visitors too! 🐍

Resetting the Bar - Leading the Way, a recent training course led by Eve Carder at Evolve Care Academy , brought together team members from across Evolve's homes who had been recognised by their colleagues as positive influences within their teams.

The focus of the day was simple - leadership isn’t defined by a job title. It shows up in everyday moments: how people support each other, how they notice small changes, and how they shape the experience of those living in our homes.

Time was spent revisiting the “why” behind what we do, with honest conversations around standards, mindset, workplace culture and the role each person plays in influencing those around them. From how a table is set, to how a bedroom feels, to the way we communicate with each other and give and receive feedback, small details that have a real impact on daily life. We discussed the things we do well and where we can improve, learning from each other's strengths and ideas.

It was a chance to pause, think about what matters, and take that back into day-to-day life in the home while recognising and celebrating the people already stepping forward in their roles - often without realising the influence they have, simply doing what needs to be done because they care.

A well-earned lunch after Paul's appointment this morning 🍳 He went for scrambled eggs and smoked salmon on toast, and, as you can see, he has absolutely no regrets. A big pot of tea on the side made it complete.

RIP our beloved Bubbles 🌸
Our sweet little guinea pig has left us, but we take comfort knowing she is now reunited with her friend Squeek. 🐾

Malcolm said it best: "If there was a heaven, Bubbles would have the best penthouse available." 🏡

Ruby and Pam picked some forget-me-nots to lay with her, the perfect goodbye from the people who loved her most.

Run free, Bubbles. You were so loved. 🌼

Your kind words are always appreciated, thank you 🩷

A trip out to Avon Valley Railway in Bitton this week. 🚂

Sitting in the carriage watching the countryside go by, with time to chat and take it all in. Some stopped by the engine on the platform afterwards, taking a closer look and enjoying the fresh air.

A train ride, good company, and a day that felt well spent.
