WHY IS THIS STILL HAPPENING?
Today I received another message asking if I offer a "HAPPY ENDING."
It’s been a while since the last one, but there were times when this was happening far too often—and it left me wondering:
Why are massage therapists, often women, still being mistaken for s*x workers?
Why is the profession of therapeutic, healing touch still so misunderstood and misrepresented?
Massage therapy is a respected practice that supports the body, mind, and soul. It helps people recover from pain, trauma, emotional stress, and disconnect. It's about deep listening through the hands, holding safe space, and honouring the whole person.
And yet—even when there's nothing in our presentation, communication, or offering that suggests otherwise—some people still choose to cross boundaries.
This isn't just an isolated annoyance. It speaks to a deeper issue about how touch is s*xualised, how certain professions are devalued, and how female-presenting therapists especially are often objectified.
This post isn’t about blame. It’s about awareness. It’s about respect.
To anyone who has faced this: you're not alone. To those who genuinely seek healing and connection through therapeutic touch: thank you for showing up with respect. And to the wider public: let’s keep reshaping the narrative.
Massage therapy is sacred work. Let’s treat it as such.
