Frome’s approach to life recognises the values, beliefs and identity of each person. Each person that may need our support is unique and by understanding one’s life history, one’s journey in life, by striving to be a true continuation of home, we create a place where everyone feels safe and never alone.

Life continues here, with the things that have always mattered. ✨The music you’ve always loved, the bikes that decorate your room because you used to own one, the way you decorate the christmas tree, or the quiet focus found in drawing or baking. These moments show what’s important to each person, not just how time is spent.

Life history isn’t left behind. It’s part of everyday life, continuing in ways that feel familiar and true to each individual.

A mix of moments from around the house ☕🏡✨Enjoying a meal at the table, concentrating on a word search, spending time in the greenhouse, watching a Punch and Judy show, or getting absorbed in painting. Simple activities, familiar routines, and the freedom to spend time in ways that feel right to each person.

A few everyday moments from the past few days 💛

Sitting down with a cup of coffee and a biscuit after a bath, reading the paper like you always have. Taking time to decorate the tree, choosing where each bauble should go. Spending a quiet moment in bed with an animal for company, enjoying the feel of soft fur and gentle movement. ☕️

We’ve also had some very special four-legged visitors pop in, meeting family members where they are, whether that’s in a chair, in bed, or mid-knitting. Animals have a way of breaking the ice, offering comfort, conversation and something familiar to focus on.

None of this is about doing something “special”. It’s about keeping hold of the routines and moments that make up normal life. A drink made just how you like it. Helping with decorations. Saying hello to visitors. Having a choice about how you spend your time.

We’ve been gradually updating part of our upstairs household, Somerset House, and wanted to share how it’s taking shape. 🏠

It’s never just about new flooring or fresh paint, but about creating spaces that feel familiar and comfortable for the people who live here.

The small touches, a favourite cushion, a framed photo, a cosy chair, are helping us shape an environment where family members can settle into their own routines. It’s lovely to see the space beginning to reflect the people who call it home.

This National Grief Awareness Week, we’re shining a light on a kind of grief that families often carry alone.

Please take a moment to read the full piece, it highlights the quiet losses so many people live with, and why no one should have to face them on their own.

November has been full of those everyday moments that make the home feel settled and familiar.
We’ve taken time to honour Remembrance, enjoyed warm drinks, spent quiet afternoons colouring for relaxation, and kept up with our usual routines like gardening in the greenhouse, sharing meals together, and making simple snacks in the kitchen.

It’s the little things that keep life feeling like home, and we’ve had plenty of those this month.

Our New Winter Menus Are Here ❄

We’ve just updated our winter menus, and there’s so much choice this year. As always, there’s a vegetarian option with every main meal, plenty of lighter bits for anyone who prefers something simple, and no set times when people have to eat. Everyone just eats when it feels right for them, the same way you would at home.

If a family member looks at the menu and nothing quite hits the spot, we just make something else. It’s really that straightforward. Hot meals, snacks, soups, jacket potatoes… there’s always something available day or night.

What matters most to us is that mealtimes feel relaxed and familiar. People choose where they sit, what they fancy, and how much support they’d like. And if someone needs a texture-modified meal, we shape it so it still looks like the dish they know, which helps everything feel reassuring.

If you’d like to see what’s on offer, our full winter menu is now online.
