So safe and so loved wrapped up in their mamas arms.
Their sweet souls so protected

I’m feeling so overwhelmed with sadness for all of my friends and loved ones in LA at the moment who are affected by the fires. I can’t begin to imagine the suffering, loss and devastation that so many must be feeling. Those who are pregnant and have lost everything, those who are newly postpartum and have lost everything.

Sending big Sunday love to all ❤️💔

There is simply no other feeling like this in the world.
So many emotions, all somehow wrapped into one. Joy, exhaustion, love, accomplishment.

And for me to be trusted to document these moments, freeze them in time. I will tell you it never ever gets old.

My camera and I are excited for 2025 ❤️✨

We are their first home. Their safe space. The first breath they learn to match. Our heart beat they know better than their own. Our bodies are brave and stretched as we grow them, birth them and raise them.

Look at their little eyes.

This is beauty. This is life ❤️

‘Giving birth is a huge event, emotionally and physically, and will make demands on the body equivalent to, for example, running a marathon. But when a woman feels confident in her body, well supported, and able to express herself without inhibition, the pain that she may feel can become bearable’

Did you lick your Babe!? ✨

Okay, hear me out—before you start imagining anything too wild, I’m talking about the instinctive bonding behaviours that connect mothers to their newborns. You can never predict how you’ll respond the moment your baby is born. You might burst into laughter, shed tears, or even do both simultaneously. But what about feeling the urge to lick your newborn? While the term “licking” might seem a bit strange in the human context, there’s something wildly beautiful about the ways in which mothers connect with their babies right after birth.

Surprisingly, some new mothers experience this instinct, and it’s not as odd as it sounds. In reality, it’s an expression of deep love.

In the animal kingdom, some mothers instinctively lick their newborns to clean them, encourage breathing, and promote bonding. While humans obviously don’t do this literally, the essence of this behaviour is still alive.
Whether it’s gently kissing, caressing, or simply holding your baby close, the act of bonding through touch is a mother’s way of “licking” her baby in the most nurturing way possible.

So tell me, did you feel the urge to lick your newborn!?

The relief in her face is palpable, he is here. The heart of this VBAC journey is filled with strength and hope. In our antenatal sessions together this Mama educated herself on the possibilities, she leaned into herself and trusted she could do it.

She had faith in her body, reclaimed her strength, embraced her power, and welcomed her baby with love, rewriting her birth journey in the most beautiful way.

Education and passionate advocation is at the very core of my beliefs as a birth doula. I’m so thankful I get to document images like these.

Every family that works with me as a birth doula gets birth images as part of their package at no extra cost!

I honestly didn’t know if the good ol’ English weather was going to stop me getting to this beautiful birth.

Amidst the roar of the storm, the world outside seemed chaotic, but inside their home, a different kind of intensity unfolded. This labor came fast, and with the rain pounding against the windows, there was no time to think—just to act, and get that birth pool filled!

It was a birth where nothing could stop the power of her labour, her strength matching the storm’s fury. These grainy images are a reminder of the calm that settled over the room, momentarily wild and turbulent, all of a sudden felt perfectly still.

Nurturing life

It’s a wild thought to stop and think about this; we all started life in the same way. Enveloped in a dark, warm, safe space, a cocoon of love and protection. A world filled with gentle movements, and rhythmic heartbeat sounds.

I remember the first time I saw a baby next to their placenta, the sudden realisation that this was the bridge between worlds. And, many doula years on it still fill me with amazement to reflect on the miracle that our bodies travel through to create, sustain, and birth new life.

It’s nature’s masterpiece! And one of my favourite things to document at births. Did you look at your placenta, or even take pictures!?

Consciously choosing love

For those who know mine and Ozzies story, will know that mothers who choose to become a single mother by choice hold a very special place in my heart. Becoming a single mother by choice for me wasn’t just about creating a family, it was about crafting a life defined by courage, resilience, and unwavering determination. As society becomes more accepting of diverse family structures and non-traditional paths to parenthood, I felt empowered to pursue motherhood on my own terms.

I champion single mothers by choice, embracing the beauty of unconventional paths, and celebrating the power of choice. It’s about rewriting narratives and embracing the boundless capacity of the human heart to love, nurture, and thrive.

Of course, there may be another path around the corner, but for now, in this very moment, it is just you and the sweet love of your babe.

To all the women who have chosen this path, or are contemplating the leap into single motherhood, your bravery knows no bounds, your resilience knows no limits. Let’s celebrate the magic of choice and the extraordinary journey of motherhood in all its forms.

Overwhelmed, exhausted, and empowered

The sense of relief, the ‘oh my fu*king god, I just did that’ is palpable. Pushed to her limits, and sinking into the wash of the calm after the storm. This beautiful mama embraced the challenge and the transformation.

*Note to add this one was pretty spesh as I was with my doula sissy
