This can feel very real…

When we lose a child or a loved one.

Your sense of identity is shattered.

Grief is not just emotional or psychological

There is a disruption in the nervous system

The brain has gone into panic because there is a break in attachment to the person you love.

Trauma overwhelms the body’s ability to feel safety or hope for the future

You have gone into survival mode and everything feels impossible.

You may feel:

😔 Emotionally numb

😔 Exhausted

😔 Anxious

😔 Unable to see a way forward

😔 Terrified you will never feel joy again

Healing starts by moving what you feel through the body.

As the nervous system calms down, you can find that sense of safety.

The excruciating pain of grief.

I felt like I was being crucified when I lost my son.

Grief is physically painful.

It can feel unbearable.

It doesn’t just affect you emotionally.

It has a huge impact on your physiology.

You may feel…

😔 On edge

😔 Exhausted even though you may not have done much

😔 Unable to relax or sleep

The system that helped you feel safe has been significantly changed because of the break in attachment.

Your brain is still searching for that person.

“They should be here” and “They’re not here”

Your body is responding to the loss of someone you were deeply wired to need.

You are not weak.

You are not broken.

This is what grief does to our mind and body.

Over time, with support, the intensity can soften.

Actually the river of abundance is always flowing- you are just walking in the wrong area of the desert! 😬
