First fruit of the year from the garden in hand. Merry May 🌞
Ginger bug is bubbling in the cupboard and a lilac lemonade chilling in the fridge.
I don’t post much of the garden because it’s not “pretty”. Since we’ve started to think of it more as a shared habitat than our garden, it’s developed more and more piles of sticks and dandelions. Lifting pots to find massive spiders and tiny frogs. The garden furniture is tired but it’s functioning, relatable. And I won’t send it to landfill if it works.
Here’s a picture of an undisturbed pile in the background, hidden from the gram like a furry armpit. It’s sitting on what used to be a path. Quietly hoping for a hedgepig to move in and make a nest… we haven’t had one for a couple of years now.
Mission for weekend is to populate the greenhouse with food things, plant more seeds and pot some stuff up. My bones need the shade of a wood and my heart needs to climb a hill and my muscles want time to stay in place here at home.
Hoping this inspires you to share a pic of your compost heap, or similar beautifully unsightly corner that’s actually brimming with life and hope.
