May is National Walking Month, a campaign which aims to get more people walking.
Why walking? Walking is an easy exercise, which doesn't need special equipment. Short walks are a perfect way to start and there are lots of easy ways to fit walking into your day - at work, once you clock off, with your family and at the weekend.
Need help and encouragement to get walking? We've two suggestions to share with you.
If you like using Apps, then download the NHS Active Walking Tracker from your App store. You can use the App to track your walks and set goals and the App includes hints and tips to help you achieve your goals. Look out for a pink logo with the Active 10 on it to know you are downloading the right app.
You might also like to join in with organised walks. You can join in with gentle and moderate walks in Frome, organised by the Somerset Activity and Sports Partnership. Monday walks go from the Cheese and Grain (meet at 10.15) and Wednesday walks start here from Frome Medical Practice (meet at 9.15)
