Why I use taping in some of my treatments…

Taping isn’t about “fixing” an injury or being a long-term solution — it’s a tool I sometimes use as part of a bigger rehab plan. For the right person at the right time, taping can help reduce strain on irritated muscles, tendons, or joints, improve movement awareness, support posture and movement patterns, and make day-to-day activities or exercise feel more comfortable while we work on the root cause of the problem.

One of the biggest benefits of taping is that it can help people move with less discomfort and more confidence, which often means they can stay active and continue progressing with their rehab rather than avoiding movement altogether. Depending on the technique used, taping can also help with swelling and lymphatic drainage by gently lifting the skin to encourage fluid movement and reduce irritation in the area.

Used alongside hands-on treatment and the right rehab exercises, taping can be a really helpful way to support recovery — bridging the gap while the long-term rehab does the real work!

✨ MYOFASCIAL CUPPING ✨

Myofascial cupping is a soft tissue treatment used within physiotherapy to help reduce muscle tension, improve mobility, and support recovery. By creating gentle suction on the skin, the cups lift the tissue underneath, helping to increase blood flow, reduce restrictions within the fascia, and decompress tight or irritated muscles.

It can be useful for:
• Muscle tightness & stiffness
• Back and neck pain
• Sports recovery
• Improving mobility and flexibility
• Reducing myofascial restrictions
• Supporting circulation and tissue healing

The marks left behind after cupping are completely normal and are NOT bruises caused by trauma. The colour simply reflects the body’s response and the amount of circulation brought to the area. Marks usually fade within a few days.

🔴 Light pink/red – healthy circulation with minimal stagnation
🟣 Darker red/purple – increased stagnation or tighter restricted tissue
⚫ Speckled/darker areas – often indicate areas of greater tension or congestion within the tissue
🌸 The lighter and more even the colour, the healthier the circulation tends to be

In these photos, you can see a mixture of lighter pink and deeper red areas, suggesting varying levels of muscle tightness and restriction across different parts of the back.
