We have a message from Dr T regarding the tub collection at the surgery...

I would like to say a very big thank you, I have collected 783 tubs for MacMillian . I'm blown away by the community, shops, surgeries, funeral directors and everyone who has supported me. Between myself and another person collecting the tubs for charity, we have 2953 to pass onto MacMillan. The money raised from recycling the plastic helps fund Macmillan’s vital support services.

The surgery will continue to have the box for donations in the waiting room.

Seeing the Same GP or Healthcare Professional Matters
The Benefits of Continuity of Care
What is Continuity of Care?
Continuity of care means seeing the same GP or clinician over time, so they get to know you, your health, and what matters to you.
In the UK, this is often described as having repeated consultations with the same GP.
________________________________________
Why It’s Good for You
❤️ Better Health Outcomes
• Lower risk of dying early
• Fewer hospital admissions
• Fewer emergency department visits
Higher continuity with the same GP is linked to better survival and less hospital use.
________________________________________
🏥 Fewer Hospital Visits
Patients with better continuity are less likely to need hospital care or avoidable admissions.
________________________________________
🧠 Better Long-Term Condition Care
Continuity is linked with better outcomes in chronic diseases like heart failure, diabetes, and hypertension, including lower mortality and complications.
________________________________________
😊 Better Experience of Care
Patients report:
• Higher satisfaction
• Less need to repeat their story
• Better understanding of their health
• More personalised preventive care (e.g. screening, vaccines)

________________________________________
Why Relationships in Healthcare Matter
When your GP knows you well:
• They understand your medical history and preferences
• You may feel more comfortable sharing concerns
• Care decisions can be more personalised
Trust and clinician knowledge are key reasons continuity improves outcomes.
________________________________________
How You Can Help Maintain Continuity
✔ Ask to see your usual GP where possible
✔ Book follow-up appointments with the same clinician
✔ Tell reception if continuity is important to you
________________________________________
Remember
Continuity doesn’t mean you can only see one clinician —
It means having a healthcare professional that knows you and works together for your care.

Free Cardiac Screenings for 14 – 35 year-olds
Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th March 2026
Lincoln Bishop University

In memory of Mike Harper 1997-2024

We’re proud to share that Lincoln Bishop University has provided space on campus for 2 days of free cardiac screenings. The family of Mike have asked us to share this with all of our students and our local community.

Mike’s parents Roy & Tracy Harper want anyone aged 14-35 to have the opportunity of a free cardiac screening, in partnership with Cardiac Risk in the Young - CRY.
Please see attached further details on how to reserve your place.

The parent perspective is that ‘if Mike had been screened, he would probably have been with us today. We don't want anyone else to lose anybody in this cruel and shocking way. Increased awareness and screening can only help.’

For more information about Mike - proud Lincolnian, Imps Fan, footballer and runner, here is a link to his memorial page https://www.c-r-y.org.uk/mike-harper/

Book your place: https://www.testmyheart.org.uk/private/

Please note that screenings are limited so we kindly ask that you only book a place if you are confident you can attend. Missed appointments can lead to wasted fundraising and may prevent others from accessing screenings.
