PIP review - DWP - After years of fighting the stigma around mental health, educating to view it is just as important as physical health, we are now told we 'can work our way out of anxiety and depression'. Get a job, and it will go away!
Appears that my 6yrs of training left me lacking in such knowledge. All I need to do with a client who hasn't left their house for 2 years is encourage them to 'get a job' .
Whilst I don't doubt prevention work can lead to higher and needed resilience - when are the 'causal' effects going to be acknowledged? Poverty, an education system where one size fits all and round pegs are deemed failures at 16yrs, navigating corporate greed...it's an endless list.
Anxiety and depression may stem from trauma , but hey - get a job and all will be well.
I am beyond words...
