Ashtanga is a dynamic form of yoga that emphasises vinyasa (breath-movement coordination), drishti (focus point) and bandhas (internal locks). By following a series of postures that can be learned by heart, we can be fully in the present and attuned to the ever-changing inner landscape of the physical and mental body. Over time we gradually build strength and flexibility in the body and mind. With a frequent and dedicated practice we can purifying, re-align and re-balance the body. Mentally and emotionally we can create stronger neural pathways and weaken the stressful ones.
Ashtanga Yoga is for everyone who is open to the possibility of change, and willing to put in the work required to see the changes manifest. We are all unique and come to yoga for different reasons, and with different bodies, so our practices may look different. The beauty of Ashtanga yoga is that we can practice the same method in a way that suits our individual needs.
