10 years ago back home after my life-saving operation with thanks to Abbey Vets in Paisley. I have been a different pony since then but between that and my disability I am far more empathetic towards “hoomans” and their health issues. I cannot wait to get out and about on my visits. PLEASE donate towards getting our transport fixed and who knows, you could be the next person we visit!! Love Albert xx

Grotty Things Horse People Think Are Perfectly Normal.

- Not being bothered by the faint scent of horse wee on every pair of shoes you own.
Honestly, if they don’t smell slightly fermented, are they even yard shoes?

- Having horse snot smeared across your coat and not washing it off.
What’s the point when it will only get dirty again anyway? Think of the environment you’re saving by not washing…

- Drinking directly from the hosepipe.
Occasionally flavoured with algae for that countryside tang.

- Mucking out, then eating your sandwich without washing your hands.
Gut health is important. This is just extreme probiotics. Hopefully.

- Using your sleeve as a perfectly acceptable tissue—for both you and the horse.
Multi-purpose garments - essentially saving money.

- Sitting in your car covered in mud, hay, and mystery stains like this is a completely reasonable life choice.
It’s not like your car has ever been cleaned anyway. Just make sure to tip the car wash you need before you sell it.

- Finding hay in places hay should never, ever be.
Bra. Socks. Kitchen. Laptop keyboard.

- Thinking a 6am start on a freezing winter morning is ‘not too bad actually.’
Better than 5am. And it’s dark all the time anyway.

- Being weirdly proud of mysterious bruises you absolutely cannot explain.
That one may have been from walking into the wheelbarrow. Or the horse jamming my leg into the arena fence. Unsure.

- Spending a fortune on the horse while personally surviving on meal deals.
Priorities. Correct priorities.

- Accepting that clean fingernails are simply not part of your personality anymore.
Just paint over the dirt. Fully acceptable.

- Genuinely believing this is all completely normal behaviour.
And you would be correct. Welcome to horse life. ✌🏽

Mum just found this video of the night they brought me a whole load of different foods to the vet to try and make me eat after my operation. I hadn’t eaten for a few days and everyone was worried I wouldn’t survive. They should have known mum and my big sister Mollie would NEVER give up on me!! This journey back home after getting me to nibble some Ready Grass, mashed bananas and bran showed how happy Mollie was!! 10 YEARS ago!!!!
