Meet Gary and Gareth, two of our Porters at QE Hospital.
This New Year’s Day bank holiday, while many people are welcoming in the year ahead, Gary and Gareth will be on duty as part of our Portering team, helping ensure patients are safely and comfortably moved across the hospital.
Porters play a vital role in the day-to-day running of the hospital, supporting patient journeys between wards, departments and clinical areas. Their work helps keep services flowing smoothly and ensures patients arrive where they need to be, when they need to be there, even on bank holidays like New Year’s Day.
Reflecting on working over the New Year bank holiday, Gareth said: “Working on bank holidays is just part of the job for us. Patients still need moving and supporting, and that doesn’t stop because it’s New Year. We work with a really supportive team and managers, and everyone just gets on with it to make sure the hospital keeps running.”
Thank you to Gary, Gareth and to all our Portering colleagues working this New Year bank holiday. Whether you’re supporting patient transport, clinical teams or essential services behind the scenes, your dedication makes a real difference every day of the year.
