💉We are pleased to share positive news about the Maternal RSV vaccination programme.
A new study shows an 80% reduction in baby hospital admissions.
In Gateshead the uptake has also increased, our midwives administered 166 RSV vaccines between September to February 2024/25, rising to 432 in 2025/26 (a 160% increase).
RSV can cause serious illness in newborns, but vaccination in pregnancy helps protect your baby during their most vulnerable early months.
Please speak to your midwife about getting vaccinated or attend one of our drop in sessions. 💉

💙 Introducing BSOTS in our Pregnancy Assessment Unit

BSOTS (Birmingham Symptom Specific Obstetric Triage System) helps our team prioritise care based on clinical urgency, so women and babies who need care most urgently are seen first.

When you arrive, a midwife will complete a prompt triage assessment and assign a colour priority which guides how quickly you will be seen.

Please remember patients are seen by urgency, not order of arrival.
