Your shoulder is the most mobile joint in the human body.

The glenohumeral joint (ball-and-socket joint) gives you more range of motion than any other joint — allowing you to throw, swim, lift, scratch your back, and reach overhead.

But here’s the catch 👇
Because it prioritises mobility over stability, it relies heavily on the rotator cuff muscles and scapular control to stay strong and pain-free.

More movement = more responsibility.

If those supporting muscles aren’t doing their job, pain often follows.

Shoulder pain isn’t always a “tight muscle” problem.

If your shoulder hurts when lifting your arm, reaching overhead, or sleeping on your side, it could be:
• Rotator cuff irritation
• Subacromial pain syndrome
• Biceps tendon overload
• Neck referral

The mistake?
👉 Stretching something that actually needs strength, control, or load management.

Your shoulder is built for movement — but it needs the right balance of mobility and stability.

At our clinic, we assess how your shoulder moves, how your scapula functions, and how your neck and thoracic spine contribute — so we treat the cause, not just the symptoms.

If shoulder pain is limiting your training, work, or sleep — it’s time to get it properly assessed.

Meet the therapist! Here’s a quick fire round for Teri, our physiotherapist…

1. What’s the most common mistake patients can make?
➡️ believing that no pain = problem fixed! Rushing back to normality because pain has settled.
2. What’s most important: hands on treatment or exercise?
➡️. Exercises more important long term, but hands on treatment can help in the short term - the right balance depends on your condition.
3. Favourite exercise to prescribe?
➡️ figure of 4 glute stretch:-
✅ improves hip mobility
✅ reduces glute/piriformis tension
✅ reduces lower back discomfort
4. Early bird or night owl?
➡️ Neither, I wake up late and sleep early!! (But I wish I was an early bird!)
5. Tea or coffee?
➡️ coffee! ☕️ Iced vanilla latte is my fave!

Meet the therapist! Claire is our osteopath..
Quick fire questions:
1. What made you become an osteopath?
➡️ I imagined a better work life balance than being a nurse - and I always have wanted to help people improve their health.
2. Favourite condition to treat?
➡️ neck pain and tension head aches.
3. Most commonly prescribed advice?
➡️ move more during your day!
4. Pilates or heavy lifting?
➡️ I recommend Pilates so often, but resistance work can always be helpful.
5. Coffee or stretch first in the morning?
➡️. It’s got to be a coffee for me ☕️

'Knee pain' in your active kids or teens?
It might be Osgood Schlatter disease ⬇

What helps:

➡ Learning how to load the knee (not total rest).
➡ Strengthening the right muscles - quads, glutes, calves.
➡ Improving flexibility where needed.
➡ Education for kids, parents and coaches.

Most importantly - kids don't need to stop moving, they need the right support.
Early guidance can reduce pain and keep young athletes doing what they love 🩵💪

Osteoarthritis isn't just 'wear and tear'... and, it doesn't mean you should stop moving!
Movement nourishes the joint, avoiding movement often makes symptoms worse.
With the right guidance, people can stay active, strong and independent 💪
