"After struggling for 2 years to fall pregnant we were referred to the clinic. Everyone at the clinic were truly amazing and put my mind at rest. After my egg collection and fertilisation we only had one healthy embryo.

On Friday, we said goodbye to Natassia, one of our amazing fertility staff nurses! 💖💫

A message from Natassia:

"It has been the hardest decision to leave GFU, I've had the privilege of working with and being supported by a wonderful team who I get to call my friends. The IVF journey is an absolute rollercoaster for all of us, and I feel incredibly honoured to have been part of your journey - to be there for you for the ups and the downs.

"It is not lost on me how incredible this job is, from start to finish, but my favourite will always be seeing your little embryo on the screen in theatre, knowing that this could be your chance.

"To all of you still waiting for your happy ending, on the days when you've lost all hope, just know that i'll keep the hope for you. Good luck, and thank you GFU for having me ###"

Victoria, our Fertility Nurse Manager added: "It's been extremely hard to say bye to Natassia; she is loved by all the staff and patients here at Gateshead Fertility.

"She will have touched so many patients lives with her kindness and loving nature,. She is a beautiful soul inside and out and will be deeply missed by all. We wish her well for her next chapter and wish her every success in her future."

We know Mother's Day can be one of the hardest days of the year. 🌿

If you're still on your journey to motherhood, today might bring emotions you weren't expecting — or ones you know all too well. Grief, longing, anger, or simply a quiet sadness. Whatever you're feeling, it's valid.

You are not alone. Around 3.5 million people in the UK are trying to conceive, and for so many of them, today is difficult.

Here are a few gentle reminders for getting through the day:

🌸 Give yourself permission to feel it. You don't have to put a brave face on today.
📵 Step away from social media if you need to. Protecting your peace isn't weakness — it's wisdom.
🚶 Do something that's just for you — a walk, a film, your favourite food, a long bath. Whatever brings you comfort.
💬 Reach out if it feels too much. Talking to someone who understands can make a real difference.

"After going through treatment in 2020, which included an abandoned round due to Covid, and a round with no embryo fertilisation, we were then blessed with a round with one embryo which is now our 4 year old little girl. We then began treatment in 2024 to give her a sibling and we were blessed with a beautiful baby boy in August 2025.

"The team were amazing from start to finish and we even had some of the same nurses and consultants doing our recent treatment that remembered us from our first rounds which made the process much more special.

"We cannot thank you enough for making our dreams come true of becoming parents."
