Thank you to the former Gateshead Fertility Patient who submitted this week's patient story. We were so grateful for your pictures and kind words β€ππΆ
"In December 2023 we were told that our much wanted pregnancy was ectopic. We had been trying to fall pregnant for 15 months prior to this positive pregnancy test, and the discovery at 8 weeks that the pregnancy was not viable broke our hearts.
"Following the surgery to remove my tube, we discovered that both my tubes were significantly damaged and scarred. Falling pregnant naturally was highly unlikely. And so began our IVF journey.
"Despite our grief and the traumatic start to the journey, we have so much gratitude for how our IVF journey panned out. The team were incredibly understanding and supportive. They communicated each step with love and compassion. Even when the original start date was going to lead to the same due date as the lost pregnancy, and I requested to push it back a little, the staff were completely understanding and worked with us to start the process when we were comfortable. We had 20 eggs collected, 10 embyros were created with 4 surviving to day 5. Happy tears at each step, taking each little win and feeling cheered on by the staff and our loved ones. We were lucky enough to fall pregnant with our baby boy in our first round.
"After a wonderful pregnancy, baby boy was delivered via c section at 37 weeks (due to placenta previa), I'm writing this now, on what was his due date, soaking in the whole journey and the gratitude I have for the staff at Gateshead Fertility Clinic. We are very aware that throughout our journey, we have relied heavily on medical intervention. From the life saving ectopic surgery to the c section bringing baby boy into the world. Thank you will never seem enough for Gateshead Fertility and the part they played in the making of baby boy. Our dreams have come true thanks to you. We will be back!"
