Bringing people together over good food is what the Big Lunch is all about - and our residents, staff, and friends at Shaftesbury John Grooms Court made it a day to remember.

The sun came out, the grill was fired up, and everyone enjoyed great food and even better company.

🎓 It was a day of music, laughter, and a few happy tears as Shaftesbury Nash College organized a graduation day to give the class of 2025 a worthy send-off.

The day allowed everyone to take a chance to reflect on their progress, talents, and most importantly celebrate the results of their hard work.

The class of 2025 will be missed, but we’re so proud of them and wish them all the best in their journey moving forward.

A big thank you to our catering and estates team, and everyone who made the day so special.

‘It may be that person you write to once a year with a Christmas card, but that is a valuable connection and we could all consider doing that a bit more often.’

This International Day of Friendship, we’re celebrating the simple joy of connection through Shaftesbury’s Penpal Project.

Across our services in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, people we support have been building new friendships by exchanging letters, sharing photos, and even having friendly phone chats – often with someone they’ve never met in person.

For many, it’s been more than just writing. It’s the chance to feel seen and valued by someone beyond their usual circle.

Lauren, from Shaftesbury North Wales, is always up for trying something new – this time, she learned how to use a food mixer for the very first time.

She put her new skills to the test and baked a delicious Swiss roll filled with strawberry jam, which she kindly shared with everyone at Builder Street.
