Meet Michelle and John, who are supported by Shaftesbury North East.

They've been making the most of spring by spending time outdoors in the garden.

From tending to plants to helping care for the outdoor space, they have enjoyed helping out in the garden.

Gardening can have real benefits for wellness, helping to reduce stress and bring a sense of calm and purpose.

What have you been planting in readiness for summer?

What an incredible day at @‌londonmarathonTCS for !

Last weekend, 29 amazing runners took on 26.2 miles in the world’s greatest marathon to raise funds for Shaftesbury. Congratulations to each of you for crossing the finish line and thank you all so much 💚

So far, you’ve raised £57,000 and counting. Thanks to your fundraising, we can keep supporting people with disabilities through education, care and rehabilitation services.

When asked what he would say to anyone considering the London Marathon in 2027, Guillaume (Shaftesbury runner) said: “You absolutely can do it!”

Now spring is in full swing, residents from Shaftesbury South East are spending their time in the sunshine.

The use of accessible bikes has allowed Melanie and Heather to enjoy cycling around the park in the sun.

It's great to see them enjoying the outdoors!

How have you been making the most of spring?

Aaron has recently taken a huge step!

Supported by Shaftesbury staff, Aaron is living away from his family for the first time. This is a big milestone in his journey to live more independently.

Aside from making strides with his independence, he also makes a difference in the community by volunteering at a local cafe.

Aaron is also creative and enjoys art and photography. He has joined art groups in the local area and even has his artwork displayed at a gallery and a shopping centre.

We wish him all the best in this new chapter.

The day brought together research, policy and practice and personal testimonies from former Shaftesbury Icanho patients, to explore how rehabilitation can restore peoples' futures.

Every 90 seconds someone in the UK is admitted to hospital with a brain injury (Headway, 2022), making conversations like these more important than ever.
