tagged me in a post yesterday. I was their doula in 2024, when they welcomed their second child into the world 🙏
The post talked about a new Doula Law in Brazil and the translation was something other doulas may need to hear today and its a great reminder of the fantastic support we provide. So thank you fellow doulas ❤️
Translation: Today we celebrate a historic victory for maternal care in Brazil: the Doula Law has been approved. A necessary, fair, and deeply symbolic recognition for those who have long supported, guided, welcomed, and protected women during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period.
To talk about doulas is also to talk about maternal mental health. Because no one goes through pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period with just their body. The presence of a doula can help reduce fear, insecurity, loneliness, and helplessness, offering continuous support, listening, information, and care at a time of intense emotional vulnerability.
In a country where so many mothers are still left to their own devices, recognising the role of doulas is a huge step forward for childbirth and birth care in Brazil.
Today, we celebrate this achievement with joy and with the seriousness it deserves. Long live doulas, long live this work that is so fundamental to the experience of pregnancy, birth, and motherhood in Brazil.
Tag your doula here and celebrate this victory with us.
🙏❤️
