We’re back to unpick another one of those code words!

Throughout your Care Needs Assessment you’ll be assessed by a MDT (Multidisciplinary Team) based on how your condition affects you and your ability to complete daily activities independently and safely.

What is an MDT?

A multidisciplinary team (MDT) is made up of a minimum of 2 professionals from different healthcare professions.

They should usually include both health and social care professionals who are already involved in your care.

We know acronyms and abbreviations can make things confusing!

It’s time to be honest…

So let’s break things down.

A supported bank account (SBA) is a bank account in the name of a disabled person managed by someone else with their consent.

A Supported Bank Account (SBA) is often used to support a disabled person with all the financial admin that comes alongside employing personal assistants;paying staff, managing invoices, and tracking finances etc.

Heard the term Care Needs Assessment but unsure what it is?

Care Needs Assessments are formal processes whereby the local authority assess whether an individual needs support to complete daily activities.

They may take place in person, online or over the phone and cover everything from health to home life.

You’ll likely be asked questions surrounding your health, your family, living arrangements and how you complete daily activities such as showering, dressing etc.

There nothing to worry about and we’re here to help every step of the way!

A Personal Budget is the money the Local Authority will pay towards any social care and support. This is decided after an assessment of any care you need. This budget includes things like how much the council will pay towards PA’s and will let you know if you need to contribute any of your own money.

Personal Budgets can be complicated but here at LiveYou were experts in helping our clients maximise their funding and make the most of their budgets.

Who is my main point of contact?

We know our PA’s often have questions before starting their roles- Luckily we have our resident friendly Geordie on hand to answer all your questions.

Lucy is the Client Team Manager and manages many of the day-to-day aspects of PA teams, so is likely your first point of contact.

For moments Lucy is off busy with Client Teams- James is LiveYou’s in-house HR expert and is on hand to resolve any HR related queries or issues.

Can we share a secret?🤫

Here at LiveYou no formal experience is needed to be a great PA. We often attract PAs from outside the care industry because this isn’t your standard ‘carer’ role, far from it in fact.

Our clients look for people who don’t have preconceptions about living with a disability, and PAs who help create opportunities for our clients to thrive. So we think a positive mindset and a great outlook on life are much more important than experience.
