You're not always going to feel great about working out...

Some day's you just aren't feeling 100% right?

And because you're not feeling 100% you just sack off your workout, because you can't give 100% to it

In fact most people who have been exercising consistently for years will tell you that there are occasional days when you just don't feel that great about working out.

BUT the key to great results is to realise this, and to give what you have when you can.

So if you're only functioning at 70% and you turn up anyway, and give all of that 70% to your workout - then you gave 100%

Conditions won't always be perfect, BUT keep showing up and giving everything you can to your workouts - that's when the real results will show ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ˜€

Unlike generic predictive equations, indirect calorimetry:

We calculated Jacksโ€™ calorie needs using the top 3 equations used by coaches & fitness apps

โžก๏ธ Katch-McArdle equation (supposed to be most accurate when bodyfat is known) calculated Jacksโ€™ RMR at ๐Ÿญ๐Ÿฐ๐Ÿฒ๐Ÿฐ cals/day

โžก๏ธ Harris-Benedict equation (most common) calculated her RMR at ๐Ÿญ๐Ÿฏ๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿด cals/day

โžก๏ธ Mifflin-St Jeor equation (supposedly the most accurate & used by MFP) calculated her RMR at ๐Ÿญ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฌ cals/day

As you can see there is a BIG difference between equations, so which one is correct?

Short answer โ€“ NONE

Jacks then underwent an assessment with our metabolic analyser, where we use breath-by-breath indirect calorimetry to determine her actual RMR by measuring how much O2 & CO2 she exhales at rest

๐—ช๐—ต๐—ถ๐—ฐ๐—ต ๐˜„๐—ฎ๐˜€ ๐Ÿฌ.๐Ÿณ๐Ÿฐ ๐—ฐ๐—ฎ๐—น๐˜€/๐—บ๐—ถ๐—ป ๐—ผ๐—ฟ ๐Ÿญ๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿฒ๐Ÿฑ ๐—ฐ๐—ฎ๐—น๐˜€/๐—ฑ๐—ฎ๐˜†

As you can see, her personal requirements are very different from a prediction

Meaning that she may well not be eating in the calorie deficit that she thinks, or may even be in a surplus

Note: these are RMR readings, in all cases you apply a multiplier to each of these to determine actual daily calorie requirements, which would increase the discrepancy
