Just over one week left until our deadlift challenge, where we attempt to lift the equivalent weight of the Angel of the North in just 10 hours!

A challenge of Angel-sized proportions. ๐Ÿ˜‡

On 25th April, an incredible fundraising challenge is taking place at the Blaydon Youth and Community Centre CIO , delivered in association with Firstcom Europe and One Take Fitness & Nutrition .

Participants will attempt to deadlift the equivalent weight of the Angel of the North (20,800kg!) in just 10 hours โ€“ thatโ€™s an average of 350kg every single minute to reach the target!

As proud sponsors, weโ€™re backing this incredible effort to raise vital funds for Tiny Lives Trust โ€“ an amazing local charity that provides support for babies and families in need of specialist neonatal care across the North East. ๐Ÿ’›

Another Sunday, another setback.

Youโ€™ve worked hard all week.

Youโ€™ve made all your gym sessions.

Youโ€™ve trained hard.

Youโ€™ve tracked your food religiously.

Then Friday comes and it all goes out the window. Two days of undoing all the progress youโ€™ve made.

Youโ€™re not alone! Hereโ€™s a few ideas to help keep you on track with your fitness goals:

โœ… Plan ahead - prep meals and snacks ahead of time, make healthier choices when eating out or attending social events

โœ… Find balance - balance is key to long-term success. It's okay to enjoy yourself during the weekend, but try to maintain a healthy balance between indulgence and hitting your goals.

โœ… Stay accountable - keep yourself accountable by tracking your progress, either through a fitness journal, app, or with a friend or workout buddy.

โœ… Stay active - physical activity like walking or going for a bike ride can help offset any indulgences and keep you in a positive mindset.

โœ… Donโ€™t throw the baby out with the bath water! - just because youโ€™ve enjoyed an indulgent meal or gone off plan at one point, donโ€™t undo the weekโ€™s hard work by going on a rampage of over-indulgence for the rest of the weekend.

Youโ€™ve stepped on the scales this morning and they havenโ€™t budged and now youโ€™re feeling defeated and all your motivation has left you.

Itโ€™s soul destroying and weโ€™ve all been there but there are a million things that can impact weight change or lack thereof:

โžก Water retention - if you arenโ€™t hydrated enough or have consumed more sodium than normal this can lead to water retention. Your weight may have increased but it isnโ€™t permanent!

โžก Muscle gain - if youโ€™ve been consistently resistance training then you will be gaining lean muscle mass. This is particularly true if you are new to lifting weights. You may have lost fat but gained muscle.

โžก Are you weighing yourself at the same time every week? Youโ€™re lightest in the morning when you first get out of bed and go to the toilet. You canโ€™t expect to see the scales go down if you weigh yourself in the morning one week and then in the evening after a full day of eating and drinking the following week.

โžก Menstruation - itโ€™s normal to gain about 3 to 5 pounds during your period (and thatโ€™s just the average).

And remember, the scales are not the only way (nor the best way) of measuring progress!!!!
