In tribute to his sister, Annmarie Ford, Thomas Smyth brought family, friends and the community together for a special fundraising night at the British Legion Club in Gateshead.

The evening featured karaoke, a lively disco and generous raffle prizes, perfectly capturing Annmarie’s spirit and the love she inspired.

On the anniversary of Annmarie’s passing, Thomas and his mam visited the St Bede’s Unit to personally deliver the donation and thank the team for the care and compassion shown to Annmarie. Their gratitude meant so much to everyone who supported her.

The event raised an incredible £1,285. This will make a huge difference to the patients cared for by St Bede’s, helping us continue to provide comfort, dignity and support when it matters most.

Thomas shared:
“This was to say a big thank you to the staff for their care and support. Thank you to Betty, Nicola, Jonathan and everyone that supported, and the big sponsor, The Devil’s Favourite Tattoo Shop.

An amazing night with amazing people and a cause well worth supporting.”

We are grateful to Thomas, his family and every person who contributed, donated or attended. Your generosity honours Annmarie’s memory in the most meaningful way.

Calling all young athletes, steady strollers and superstar supporters! 🏃✨

We are looking for children and young people to join our charity team for the Mini and Junior Great North Run on Saturday 12 September.

This is a fantastic opportunity for kids to get active while raising money to support patients, families, and staff across Gateshead Health. Every step taken helps make a real difference right here in our community!

The Details:

Entry Fee: £22.50

What you get: All our young runners receive a free runner's T-shirt, plus a brilliant goodie bag at the finish line.

Please note that the Junior event is incredibly popular, and the boys 9-10 years category is already at full capacity. However, there are still spaces available in our other age groups!

Run the Great North Run for Gateshead Health Charity 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

We have guaranteed places for the Great North Run on Sunday 13 September, and we’re looking for runners to join our charity team.

No ballot needed. When you sign up with us, your place is secured.

What you need to know
- £60 entry fee
- Minimum fundraising target £300
- Raising money to support patients, families and staff across Gateshead Health

You don’t need to be a seasoned runner. First timers are very welcome.
