Cancer affects far too many lives, and some of us, particularly those of Jewish descent, are at greater risk due to inherited gene variants.


The NHS Jewish BRCA Programme offers free BRCA gene testing for people in England aged 18+ who have at least one Jewish grandparent.


The deadline for registration is 31 October – sign up at:

BRCA refers to two genes, BRCA1 and BRCA2, that every one of us has. These genes play an important role in the prevention of cancer.

The surgery will be closed this afternoon from 1pm for staff training.

We will re-open tomorrow morning at 7:30am.

When handing a urine sample into the surgery, please make sure your name, DOB and symptoms are on the form provided with the sample.

Please make sure this is handed to a member of staff. Any samples left without informing a member of staff will be discarded.

Please only contact us if absolutely necessary. Use 111, pharmacy first or A&E for emergencies.

You may be offered a GP appointment at an alternative location if you do require an appointment today.

We have received the following information from the NHS Cervical Screening Programme.

"From September, NHS plans to start sending results from the NHS Cervical Screening Programme, utilising the NHS App.

In September, those who have a negative test result will be notified of this by an NHS App message. It will also appear as an NHS App notification. If the NHS App message isn’t read within 72 hours, a letter will be sent as a failsafe.

Abnormal result letters will continue for the time being to be delivered by post.

This change follows the successful rollout of digital invitations and reminders in June 2025, where since the launch, 9 out of every 10 invitations are being sent digitally, with the remainder being sent by post."
