The exciting world of toddler yoga is from approx 14 months to 4 years. This is a highly interactive class for both toddler and parent/guardian as you are taken through adventure based, story led, and themed classes using rhymes, songs, music, yoga poses, physical movement and routines plus visual and sensory aids to engage your toddler and aid their development.
Classes are designed to be fun and highly interactive for both parent/guardian and child whilst incorporating EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) framework to aid development. Parents/guardians often enjoy them as much as the child! We encourage your child to express themselves using their bodies, engage in stretches and copy yoga poses. The class is well known for building self esteem and confidence whilst developing skills like listening, talking, counting, recognising colours and objects, taking turns and teamwork.
We introduce toddlers and pre-schoolers to breathing techniques early on, this helps develop their growing lungs and also with early breath control and calming techiniques. We use props such as windmills, silk scarfs and bubbles to encourage your child in this much loved activity. Children are delighted blowing their first bubbles!
As part of our classes we always promote mindfulness and relaxation and try our best to incorporate a period of time where everything is calm and peaceful. You'd be surprised how quickly our toddlers start to recognise the calming down time towards the end of a class and enjoy listening to a story, or colouring in or doing some simple crafts relevant to the adventure or theme we just had. This is an integral part of our yoga session as it teaches your child how to change their energy levels and be calm after the activities before.
