Today is the start of daylight saving time, summer is around the corner but if you’ve been feeling flatter, more tired, less motivated, you’re not imagining it.

UK research shows seasonal changes can affect mood, sleep and energy levels, particularly during winter and early spring. Reduced daylight impacts our circadian rhythms and can increase low mood for many people.

That doesn’t mean you’re weak, it means you’re human.

Small changes help:
• Gentle routine
• Movement
• Talking it through
• Professional support if needed

In the UK, 1 in 4 people experience a mental health problem each year (Mind). Struggling is common, even if it’s quiet.

Therapy isn’t about dramatic breakdowns. It’s about giving yourself space before things escalate.

You can know all the mental health awareness messages and still feel low.

You can understand anxiety and still struggle to manage it.

That’s because awareness doesn’t automatically change how we feel.

Evidence-based therapies, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), focus on practical tools, not just insight. Research from the NHS shows structured talking therapies significantly reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression for many people.

Understanding is the start.
Support and structured strategies are what help shift things.
