We're supporting Childrens Hospital Pyjamas, to help with donations where possible!

This incredible cause collects donations of brand new pyjamas, from the public, which they then donate to hospitals, hospices and women’s refuges across the UK. These are then given to poorly or less fortunate children who are inpatients.

Beer Tasting at Buckingham House!

It was an extra fun afternoon at the home, once our beer trolley started making the rounds. In celebration of International Beer Day, we had a wide variety of beers available to try: Irish, Czech, Danish, Belgian... you name it, we had it all, and the people living with us were all for it! Bringing the pub to the home ended up bringing many smiles too and they truly enjoyed every sip, along with the outpour of memories from their favourite pubs back in the day.

Music Therapy at Buckingham House. Vache Baroque and Chiltern Music Therapy ‘s collaborative musical project came to life at the home, and what a delight it was for the lovely people living with us!

It was a spectacle for all the senses, which brought so much joy, happiness and comfort for them. They had a chance to either sing along to the music, play a percussion instrument to accompany the rhythm or just sit back and enjoy the performance. With both group and private sessions echoing all across the home, no one missed out on this special musical experience.

The best of our Tropical BBQ Party! The images capture the vibrant spirit of the event, the excellent live music and, last but not least, the delicious food!

Smiles and laughter were all around, the sun was shining, drinks were pouring, food was quickly vanishing and it all ended with a special serenade for one of our residents. Almost a week later, there is still chatter in the home about how lovely everything was.

Wimbledon: The people living with us held their very own More...Movement Balloon Tennis tournament for the Wimbledon Final. They had plenty of practice in the weeks leading to the game, and it showed in their impressive skills and determination on the day! Score and light-hearted competition aside, it was a lovely way for them to directly engage each other in a fun and sociable setting, and get some exercise while at it!

Garden Art: Those living with us having an impromptu Arts & Craft More...Creativity session in the garden. The fresh air and relaxing environment made for a tranquil session, inspired by nature and life outdoors. It was an especially significant moment for one of our ladies, who used to be a renowned artist back in the day, and was so happy to once again hold a brush and express her creativity!

Book Club: People participating in our brand-new Book Club! The ‘Take a book, leave a book’ policy of our Little Free Library has been taken full advantage of, and now they are always looking forward to when we do the rounds, curious about the titles we have on offer!

Strawberries & Cream for the opening day of Wimbledon. The people living with us smiled at the sight of the fresh fruit and many went heavy on the cream! It was a great way to get the entire home involved with this much loved English tradition.

Mehndi Body Art, to bring more culture into Buckingham House through an all-round More...Sensory experience. Everyone admired the skills of our team member and everyone witnessing the activity wanted to get involved. One of our ladies had her own idea regarding the patterns she wanted and was trilled to see it come to life!

Chocolate Tasting to celebrate World Chocolate Day. Those living with us couldn't wait to taste the variety of flavours we had on display. We served their chosen pieces with a complimentary espresso, to accentuate the chocolate. The activity was a great success on our Dementia Floor where everyone in the lounge kept asking for more once they had had a taste! They were also most curious to try the unusual truffles we had on offer, daring to bite into flavours such as Popcorn Carousel and Flutter Scotch, with Caramel Haze being voted the best of the lot!

A thoroughly engaging Music Therapy session, involving the use of a Handpan drum and a Kalimba. The people living with us loved giving the instruments a try and had fun improvising on them. The sounds and vibrations brought a serene atmosphere to the home and everyone commented on the instruments' unusual striking appearance.

Monti 'The Therapy Dog' came to us for his monthly visit. It was all smiles in the home the moment he walked through the door. Some of those living with us were waiting for him eagerly in the corridor, knowing he's about to arrive. They enjoyed giving him treats, watching him do tricks, and even tried to teach him a trick or two, and of course they had plenty of opportunities to pet him.

Cheers between two of the people living with us who always dine together, but this time, they enjoyed each others' company in a local pub, sharing a glass of wine and many fond memories.
