Capture those moments 📷

There really is a beauty is looking back at how far you’ve come. Those tough days (and nights), those happy moments and how your beautiful little one is growing.

Lots of parents feel like they’re always taking the photos and actually, your little people, are going to want to see those pictures of you together the most. And they don’t care if your is done or your clothes are clean. You are the best thing in their whole wide world 🌎

It’s safest for a child under 12mths to sleep on a firm, flat, waterproof mattress. This includes when they are sleeping in a pram or buggy.

🏰 We’d love to know what your favourite childhood stories are and if you are passing them along to your family?

🧚‍♀️ Did you know, reading to your baby in pregnancy helps build yours and your baby’s bond to each other - continue this bonding experience by touching your bump whilst reading or encouraging your partner or children to be involved too.

It was SABL Medway's first class of 2024 at Medway Park Sports Centre this evening 🗓️

A lovely group of 16 people came along to have a practice on manikins and learnt baby CPR, how to deal with choking and drowning and received some drowning prevention tips 🚼

We also welcomed Henry from KMTV who took some footage of the class and did some interviews. (So we will watch this space to see if it will be shown on TV 📺)

Many thanks to Medway Park Sports Centre for the use of the facilities ❤️

To all that came along, it was lovely to meet you all. Good luck with the new babies and the baby led weaning 🥕🥦🍌

Please make sure you read the booklet you were given regularly and please do let people know about the classes 🙂

Lastly, there are still spaces available for next week's class. 7pm Medway Park Sports Centre, 25th January. To make an enquiry please message sablmedway@gmail.com 📨

Oxytocin (also known as the love hormone 💕) is the hormone responsible for contractions in labour.

Oxytocin is a shy hormone, it is present when you feel safe, secure and loved. Somethings that increase your oxytocin include:

✅Kissing
✅Sex
✅Hand holding
✅Hair stroking
✅Cuddles
✅Laughing
✅Nipple stimulation
✅Music

Some of these things can be used in labour to help oxytocin to flourish and contractions to stay regular. Things that reduce Oxytocin include:

🚫Feeling scared or threatened
🚫Being in unfamiliar surroundings
🚫Bright lights
🚫Stress

So ways you can help your Oxytocin levels in labour:

💜Have a birthing partner you are close to, encourage them to hold your hand, massage you and reassure you
🤍Use positive affirmations to remind yourself you are safe and your body is designed for labour
💜Choose your birthing environment or adapt your birthing environment to suit you (e.g dim lighting, fairy lights, photos, nice smells, your own pillow)
🤍Watch a funny film
💜Listen to music you love
🤍Minimise the chatter in your birth space
💜Encourage your birthing partner to read positive stories or hypnobirthing scripts
