UPF is a problem we all need to face.
UPFs are manufactured from industrial substances and contain additives such as preservatives, sweeteners, colourings, flavourings, and emulsifiers.
UPFs vary, but tend to have higher levels of added sugars, saturated fat and sodium, as well as less fibre, protein, and nutrients.
They have been suggested as one of the key drivers of the global rise in diseases such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, and cancer, the University of Cambridge said.
Researchers at the University of Cambridge and University of Bristol looked at data from food diaries filled in by almost 3,000 young people.
They found consumption of ultra-processed foods (UPFs) was highest among those from deprived backgrounds, those of white ethnicity, and younger adolescents.
They found that an average of 66% of adolescents' energy intake came from UPF consumption
Dr Esther van Sluijs, also from the MRC unit, said: "Ultra-processed foods offer convenient and often cheaper solutions to time- and income-poor families, but unfortunately many of these foods also offer poor nutritional value. This could be contributing to the inequalities in health we see emerging across childhood and adolescence."

I have been saying for years that these energy drinks are dangerous. Hopefully now people will listen.
Energy drinks contain caffeine ranging from 80mg to 300mg per serving, there is 100mg in a cup of coffee

When it comes to healthy living and lifestyle changes it isn't always just about your food. It's a complicated relationship with ourselves, our behaviours and habits.
As part of my journey I have changed what I eat but also more recently in the last year I have also considered the bigger impact of my choices.
The food and drinks industry has alot to answer for when it comes to their impact on our health as a nation but also, very importantly, the world as a whole.

You have got to love it when you get a thank you card from a member of one of my healthy eating and lifestyle courses that I run for Medway Council.
He worked super hard on making positive changes and lost 30 lbs in 3 months.
This was a trial men's only group and 90% of the group lost at least a stone in weight.
This reminds me so much why my job and career is so important. I am changing people's lives, much like I did to change my life. Its essential to me that I give back into the system because without it I doubt I would be alive now.
You cannot get any more job satisfaction than this. 😁😁😁
