Today we are proud to celebrate International Women’s Day and recognise the incredible women who make up such a vital part of our team at Practice Plus Group Surgical Centre, Gillingham.

This year’s theme, “Give to Gain”, is a powerful reminder that by supporting, mentoring and uplifting one another, we all grow stronger together. Across our centre, we see this every day, from experienced clinicians sharing their knowledge, to colleagues supporting one another through busy surgical lists and working collaboratively to ensure every patient receives outstanding care.

The women across our surgical centre play an essential role in delivering safe, compassionate and high-quality healthcare. Their expertise, dedication and teamwork not only make a difference to our patients, but also help create an environment where others can learn, grow and succeed.

Today we celebrate the impact of giving through leadership, support and collaboration and the collective gains it brings to our patients, our colleagues and our community.

As part of our continued commitment to expanding high-quality surgical services for patients across Kent and Medway, we are pleased to share that Practice Plus Group Surgical Centre, Gillingham is now offering laparoscopic hernia repair. 🎉

Performed by our Medical Director and General Surgeon, Mr Richard Dickson-Lowe.
Mr Dickson-Lowe says:
"This enhancement to our service means that patients who would previously have required transfer to our sister hospital in Ilford can now receive their care locally in Gillingham. Laparoscopic repair offers well-established clinical benefits, including reduced post-operative pain, shorter recovery time and an earlier return to normal daily activities" 🙌💜

This week we marked National Safeguarding Week at Practice Plus Group Gillingham, focusing on this year’s theme of Prevention – acting before abuse occurs.
We took time to refresh our understanding of how we can work together to reduce harm, recognise concerns early and ensure the right processes are in place to respond effectively.
Our team joined drop-in sessions, discussed ways to strengthen safeguarding practice and wore green to show our support.
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and this week was a valuable reminder of the role we all play in keeping people safe.
