Dr Penman is a Consultant Gynaecologist and Fetal Medicine Specialist, meaning he is a fully-trained doctor with specialist medical qualifications in scanning babies. His primary concern, like yours, is the health of your unborn baby at all stages of pregnancy.
Dr Penman offers a range of pregnancy scans from 6 weeks. He offers scans in 2D, 3D* and 4D* (*from 10 weeks) providing you with even more detailed information about your baby. At your scan, Dr Penman will explain what is visible on the ultrasound, and will give you a selection of printed images, CD* and DVD* (*at scans from 10 weeks) to take home with you.
Dr Penman offers baby gender scans from 11 weeks of pregnancy. Between 11-13 weeks of pregnancy you can have a Nuchal Scan in addition to your baby gender scan to detect Down’s Syndrome and other chromosomal abnormalities. To find out more about Dr Penman’s baby gender scans, please click here.

Heavy/painful periods are a particular focus of Dr Penman’s. He believes you do not have to accept heavy/painful periods as a fact of life. Dr Penman makes a diagnosis from your history, pelvic ultrasound scanning and blood tests, giving him a picture of what is causing your heavy periods. The treatment he can offer ranges from medication to various different surgeries (such as NovaSure Endometrial Ablation and Myosure myomectomy/polypectomy, and hysterectomy) depending on the cause of your heavy periods and the severity.
