Yoga Workshop!

Calling all sun worshippers! As we pass through the Spring Equinox, come and learn to salute the return of the sun in style!

Surya namaskara - or sun salutation - is the cornerstone of many yoga practices whether you usually choose a fast or a slower-paced yoga class.

In this workshop, you’ll learn the mechanics of a Hatha yoga sun salutation sequence (see the illustration below), placing the body carefully, adapting the poses to suit your own body. You’ll work up to a steady, rhythmic practice, breathing deeply and consciously, and shift energy around the body as you move - invoking a felt sense of your own magnificent solar power!

Surya Namaskara is a vitalizing practice, beneficial for the whole body, utilising full engagement of the muscles and joints throughout. After this workshop, you will definitely feel that you have shaken off the last remnants of the winter and stepped into the energy of Springtime!

Come and retune your nervous system and connect with your innate sense of wellbeing.

I have spaces left for my next series of weekly traditional Hatha yoga classes at Sorelle in Motcombe, beginning on Wednesday 4th March 9.15am - 10.30am.

They are accessible, unhurried classes where we move mindfully with our breath through slow and static postures, inviting deeper connection with our inner and outer world. We take time to rest and recalibrate mind, body and spirit as we go, and end with a long, guided rest to integrate the practice.

Drop in is available at £12 per class, or buy a discounted bundle of 4 classes for £46. You need to book your spot in advance.

Tuesday evening 17th Feb Deep Rest Yoga (lovely, non-sleep deep rest)
This is an opportunity to access a state of deep nervous system reset, incredibly restorative - and all you have to do is lie down!
Spaces are limited and are now bookable, so go for it if you think you'd like to come and try it. It’s suitable for everyone

Come and lie down. Rest. Be guided into deep relaxation.

Next Tuesday evening - 6th January, if you would like to come, I'm holding a Deep Rest session at Coffee and Canines Shop on the high street in Gillingham. No experience is needed to attend. Everyone is welcome. Bring something to lie down on, and a blanket and socks.

We'll be doing a practice called Yoga Nidra. It's a yogic relaxation method that takes you into a tranquil space between being awake and asleep. You do it lying down (though it can be done seated), and all you have to do is listen to my voice as I guide you into this deeply restful state.

Being properly rested is so good for your health and sense of wellbeing. Yoga Nidra opens up ways to release tension in body, emotion and mind naturally, simply by being present. All you have to do is lie down as my voice guides you through the process.

Because it slows down the brain waves, the practice stimulates a healing response in the body, just like when you are asleep. After a Yoga Nidra session, and especially with regular sessions, you may find that you:

sleep better
feel less stressed and anxious
shift more easily away from unhelpful, "stuck" patterns of thought
begin a journey towards processing unresolved emotional content
experience sharper clarity of mind
get less triggered and reactive
have lower blood pressure

We'll do some small, easeful bending, extending and rotating movements which increase circulation in the joints and organs beforehand, gently stimulating energy meridians and the lymphatic system and helping to unblock stuck points of energy beforehand, nothing strenuous.

Hello everybody, I'm offering a 6 week yoga course at Sorelle in Motcombe just outside Shaftesbury starting Wednesdays 9 - 10.15am from September 10th.

My classes are warm and welcoming spaces that honour yoga's classical foundations and offer gentle options alongside deeper challenges. We’ll move slowly and mindfully, inviting deeper connection with our inner and outer world. We’ll take time to rest and recalibrate as we go. And each class ends with a long, guided relaxation.

Class dates: 10th, 17th and 24th September and 1st, 8th and 22nd Oct at 9 - 10.15am NB no class on 15th Oct.

If you can't commit to the full 6 classes, but would like to attend some of the classes, please let me know. Any questions, let me know.
