🌿🐾 A Day to Remember at Fern Brook Lodge! 🐾🌿

Our lovely residents had a joyful day out at the Fairfield Animal Centre in Wiltshire! From feeding friendly goats and cuddling curious rabbits to meeting wallabies, emus, donkeys, and even Highland cows... it was a day full of smiles, laughter, and furry friends. 🐐🐰🐄🫏

A special moment came from our dear Winnie, who said:
“It was such a truly wonderful day, at 102, I’ve definitely enjoyed it. Thank you!” 💖

🎶 A Truly Joyful Afternoon at Fern Brook Lodge 🎶

What a fantastic afternoon we had as the Shaftesbury Sea Shanty Group filled our lounge with toe-tapping tunes and timeless tales of the sea! 🌊🎤

Residents, staff, and visitors alike were swept away by the rhythm, with everyone joining in to sing along to the classic sea shanties we all know and love.

Resident Jim shared a touching memory, saying: “It was a wish come true, my grandad was the coxswain on the lifeboats in Poole, and I can still remember him singing shanties like these.” 💙

The verdict? Unanimous! The group has been invited back for another rousing performance and we can’t wait!

🎓✨ Alzheimer’s Awareness Month – Kicking Off with a Trip Down Memory Lane! ✨🎓

To start Alzheimer's Awareness Month, we had a fantastic morning at our Memory Café with Reminiscence with Jan leading the way! The theme? Back to School, and in true Jan style, she made sure everyone joined in the fun.

Our staff were sent back in time, proudly wearing school uniforms (yes, ties and all!) and we even had a head teacher join us to keep things in order. 📚👩‍🏫

The morning was filled with laughter, stories, and even a lively game of lacrosse 🏑 sparking wonderful memories for everyone who took part. Best of all? Not a single detention in sight! 😉

🐮🌾 Farmyard Fun for Fern Brook Lodge! 🐑🌻

Our residents enjoyed a heartwarming day out at Madjeston Milk Station, and what a day it was! 🐰🐔🐐

They loved meeting the friendly animals, soaking up the sunshine, and a pitstop for a well deserved cuppa 🫖 The smiles said it all, pure joy and connection. 💛

A huge thank you to the wonderful team at Madjeston Animal Farm for the warm welcome.

A Perfect Summer Day 🌞 at the Fern Brook Lodge Fayre & Dog Show 🐶

The Summer Fayre and Dog Show was a celebration of community spirit, drawing together residents, visitors, and their beloved four-legged companions for an unforgettable day of fun. The event was graced by the presence of the town mayor, who had the honour of judging the dog show.

From lively dog parades brimming with personality, an array of stalls selling local crafts, to the mouthwatering aromas of freshly prepared dishes 🍔 by Head Chef Phil, every moment of the afternoon buzzed with energy and delight.

Thank you to all that attended, It was truly an amazing day to remember.

🏆 Football fever took over Fern Brook Lodge care home on Sunday! ⚽

Our residents and team were in full Lioness spirit as we celebrated a football-themed day from start to finish. The lounge came alive in the morning with a football singalong – and our staff proudly wore their team shirts to keep the energy high!

This afternoon saw inflatable football games and a hilarious round of Human Target – where our Activities Lead bravely took one for the team as the target! 😄

After the laughter and fun, everyone settled down to cheer on the England team – and what a match it was! 🙌

Wilma and Jackie summed it up perfectly: “Let’s hope the girls win!” – and they did! 💪🎉

What an unforgettable day our residents had at Monkey World! 🐒💚

The sun was shining, the monkeys were playful, and the smiles were endless. Everyone enjoyed getting up close with the amazing primates and learning about their rescue stories. From cheeky chimpanzees to curious lemurs, there was so much to see and love!

A big thank you to the caring staff at Monkey World for making our visit so special. Our hearts are full and our residents are already talking about their favourite moments. Here's to more joyful adventures together! 🌞🌿

We delivered our donation of bedding for the monkeys, which were gratefully received.

🎉 The Mayor of Gillingham officially opened The Tipsy Terrier – Fern Brook Lodge’s brand-new, dog-themed pub! 🍻🐾

Mayor Cllr Fiona Cullen joined resident David, Bake Off star Carole Edwards, and the Fern Brook team to cut the ribbon and raise a toast.

The pub offers residents a fun place to socialise with drinks like Badger Beers and mocktails including ‘Paw-Squeezer Lemonade’ and ‘Terrier Tonic’.

Come and experience our friendly care home at Welcome Wednesdays (2–4pm) or pop into our Memory Café Thursdays (10–11am). Everyone’s welcome! 💛
