The New Standard: UK First-Aid 2025 Guidance
The Resuscitation Council UK (RCUK) has officially released the 2025 Resuscitation Guidelines. These updates represent the most significant shift in UK first-aid standards in years, focusing on earlier intervention and a more structured approach to saving lives.
Our upcoming courses are fully updated to meet these new national standards and HSE (Health and Safety Executive) workplace recommendations.
Key 2025 UK Changes You Need to Know
The "Call First" Protocol: New guidance advises calling 999 for any unresponsive person before assessing breathing to save vital seconds.
The ABCDE Approach: For the first time, First Aid has its own dedicated chapter, introducing the ABCDE (Airway, Breathing, Circulation, Disability, Exposure) assessment as the standard for all responders.
Catastrophic Bleeding: Enhanced focus on trauma care, including the use of tourniquets and wound packing for life-threatening bleeds.
Paediatric Updates: Refined age-specific CPR guidance and a focus on "5 Rescue Breaths" for children and drowning victims.
Mental Health Inclusion: Formal recognition of mental health crises and suicidal ideation within the first-aid responder's remit.
