6 years ago today I qualified as a meditation teacher… first professional photo vs most recent 😂
I genuinely had no f**king idea how to run a business back then…
I contacted and got dressed up as a “LinkedIn final boss” for some pictures around Glasgow; I genuinely thought a couple photos, a website, and my classes would just magically be filled 😂💫
6 years later, a studio, multiple retreats, an app, 100s of 5 star reviews, and a few more grey hairs and it’s a pretty cool reflection - but not without so much unseen hardwork behind it all 🧘🏽♂️
I see new teachers start out all the time with the same mindset, thinking because they’re a teacher now it’ll all just be smooth sailing… 🫠
It’s a tough gig behind the scenes, there’s a very thin line between running a professional business and teaching a spiritual practice and it can be a lonely venture at times 😮💨
People see the shiny studios, the aesthetic events, and the zen on social media but they don’t see the multiple hats you have to wear to run a studio, the heavy lifting before & after an event, or the late nights with your head buried in a tech issue.
I worked in many industries before I became a teacher; from shovelling s**t to wiping arses, which has set me up to be a better teacher and have a tougher grit when it gets hard - because it does; being a meditation teacher doesn’t make you immune to challenges 💪🏽
That button up shirt & collared jacket will ALWAYS make me laugh 😂
