The Prosthetic and Orthotic Stakeholder Group held its second meeting today, bringing together representatives from across the NHS, the private sector, clinicians, charities, service managers, prosthetic and orthotic companies, BHTA, ISPO higher education institutions, and colleagues from across the four nations.

Discussions focused on the challenges currently facing the prosthetic and orthotic profession and, importantly, on a solution focused approach to addressing these challenges collaboratively across the sector.

A key priority emerging from the meeting was a shared commitment to continue moving forward with the development of a Prosthetic and Orthotic All Party Parliamentary Group, helping ensure the profession, services, and the people who rely on them are better represented and supported at a national level.

This year’s programme brings together clinicians, researchers, and innovators with a strong focus on the human impact of prosthetic and orthotic care and our conference theme, designing care around the patient 🦿🦾🦶

The day features four keynote speakers alongside oral presentations, poster displays and opportunities to connect with colleagues across the profession, our international partners, guests, and wider MDT colleagues 🤝📚

Highlights include discussions on clinical biomechanics, orthotic referral decision making, pathways to early prosthetic fitting, complex orthotic clinic implementation, leadership in patient care design, the perspective of the patient, the role of the vascular surgeon and new approaches to phantom limb pain management 🧠🔬🦶
