Anxiety. We all feel anxious from time to time. It's not a nice feeling and we all want it to go away as quickly as possible. Sometimes it's a normal, if unpleasant and unhelpful, reaction to a stressful situation which dissipates as the situation changes and resolves. However, according to Anxiety UK, in a recent survey they found that a massive 49.6% of the UK population report living with high levels of anxiety.
The mind and body are closely connected so, unfortunately, if you are living with high levels of stress and anxiety this can have a negative effect on your physical health, in particular your nervous, cardiovascular, digestive immune and respiratory systems. Anxiety can lead to sleep problems, high blood pressure, stomach problems and headaches. But did you know if can also cause less well known problems such as weight gain, unexplained aches and pains, frequent urination and a weakened immune response.
However, it's not all doom and gloom. It is possible to take positive steps to reduce your anxiety levels and by doing so improve your physical health and wellbeing. These include breath work, mindfulness, yoga and, of course, hypnotherapy. As a qualified nurse, yoga teacher, wellness life coach and hypnotherapist I work collaboratively with my clients to help them create their own goals and move towards a happy and healthy lifestyle in both mind and body. Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you would like an informal chat or to book yourself in for a free initial consultation.
