✨️ 🧘‍♀️ A S A N A W I T H M E 🧘‍♀️ ✨️

3 moves to reconnect with your bod and breath, release some of the holding my love.

1. Keep the bottom leg bent if you prefer and the top foot can be kept on the floor. Focus on stretching the hand into the floor and engaging the side body closest to the floor. Breathe fully into the ribcage.

2. Trikonasana, ohhh it helps to tune into the outer side of the body, hello hip area and side of the abdomen! Allow yourself to focus on lengthening the spine.

3. Wee cuddle with the bolster, pop it over the abdomen, allow the hips to settle in a comfortable and relaxed position. Breathe gently into the belly.

P O S T R U N Y O G A

🩷 In the past, running has fed into my stress response of do do do. Following the high intensity work with flowy movements, gradually spending longer in stillness after runs has worked a treat.

🫁 Breath work pre and post run is a game changer! Breath work is E V E R Y T H I N G. Tuning into the workings of the breath in our different workouts brings wild connection. Alternating nostril breathing, because if the breath retention, has made a huge difference for me.

❤️ You'll see huge progress if you dive deeper into the workings of the breath. I recommend "Breath" by James Nestor as a starting point. From a yoga perspective, I recommend Swami Saradananda's "The Power of Breath."

💛 K E E P I T S I M P L E 🩷

Don't fear repetition.

When we visit movements repeatedly we have the option to get curious about how we work with them. Noticing if our holding patterns show up in them or maybe our thought patterns block the movement in some way.

🙏 Trikonasana & Trikonasana II pretty much feature in all my self practices and flow classes.

Why?

🩷 I've found them very helpful for proprioception, from the toes all the way up! Feet ➡️ pelvis and hips ➡️ side body ➡️ ribcage ➡️ head

💛 It feels like a relief at the end of the day. These poses when worked consciously encourage balance on either side of the spine, so the side that tends to take the lead gains space here and we are offered info on weaker muscles.

♥️ The arm line along with shoulder blade position can be a focus. Great for those of us that slip into patterns of rounding our shoulders!

🩷 The twisting motion in trikonasana II encourages space through the front body, feels like a satisfying yawn for the abdomen area.

Mix it up:

Use a wall, love a practice featuring the wall.

Make use of blocks to bring the ground up under hands.

Don't go to full ROM, instead draw attention to feeling the breath expanding and deflating the body.
