ADHD assessments can help individuals better understand difficulties with attention, focus, organisation, and daily functioning.

Assessments explore how symptoms may affect education, work, relationships, and emotional wellbeing, helping individuals gain clarity and access the right support.

At The Walden Clinic, we provide supportive and thorough assessments tailored to each individual’s experiences.

“Her warmth and professionalism made a real difference to my therapy experience.”

“I had a really positive experience working with Aileen Ward. She is incredibly personable and made me feel comfortable from the start. Her nonjudgmental approach created a safe space where I felt heard and understood. She is very patient, compassionate, and thoughtful in how she listens and responds. I always felt supported rather than rushed or criticised. Her warmth and professionalism made a real difference in my therapy experience, and I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring and effective therapist.”

At The Walden Clinic, we aim to provide thoughtful, compassionate, and professional support tailored to each individual.

The first therapy session is an opportunity to begin understanding what has brought you to therapy.

Your therapist will spend a little time getting to know you before exploring what you’d like support with, and any goals you have - even if they’re not fully clear yet.

Your therapist will also explain how sessions work, answer any questions, and help you feel more comfortable with the process.

There’s no expectation to share everything straight away. It’s about starting at a pace that feels right for you.

Autism assessments at The Walden Clinic are comprehensive, neuroaffirmative, and follow best practice guidelines, to create a transparent understanding of how an individual experiences and interacts with the world.

A ‘gold standard’ assessment, should involve detailed conversations about developmental history, current experiences, and how someone thinks, communicates, and responds to their environment. At the end of the assessment, the person should feel confident that the clinician has heard their story, understands their experiences and is confident in the outcome.

For many people, an assessment can bring clarity, validation, and a better understanding of themselves, as well as guidance on appropriate support.

At The Walden Clinic, we offer a respectful and thorough assessment process for children, young people, and adults.

You don’t need a diagnosis to start therapy.

Many people come to therapy without a clear name for what they’re experiencing. You might feel overwhelmed, stuck, or simply aware that something isn’t quite right.

Therapy offers a space to explore this at your own pace — helping you understand patterns in your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, and make sense of what’s going on.

At The Walden Clinic, we focus on understanding you as an individual, rather than fitting you into a diagnosis.

The way we speak to ourselves can have a powerful impact on how we feel, cope with challenges, and view ourselves.

Our inner voice - sometimes called self-talk - can be supportive and encouraging, but at times it can also become critical or demanding, especially when we are feeling stressed or uncertain. Becoming more aware of this internal dialogue is often the first step in building a healthier relationship with ourselves.

Self-compassion isn’t about getting everything right or ignoring difficulties. It’s about responding to yourself with the same understanding and patience you might offer a friend. Small shifts in the way we speak to ourselves can support resilience, confidence, and emotional wellbeing over time.

Our latest blog explores why self-talk matters and how developing greater self-compassion can make a meaningful difference.

When things feel overwhelming, it can be difficult to know where to start.

Support doesn’t have to be urgent or dramatic, sometimes it begins with having a space to talk, reflect, and feel heard.

Work can feel overwhelming at times, especially when demands keep building and there’s little space to pause.

Taking a step back, even briefly, can help you regain clarity and feel more in control of what’s in front of you.

Support doesn’t have to wait until things feel unmanageable, it can start with a conversation.

Children develop their understanding of themselves and the world through everyday experiences.

Encouraging curiosity, emotional awareness, and self-compassion can help build a foundation for resilience over time.

Small, consistent steps can make a meaningful difference.

World Health Day is a reminder that health includes both our physical and emotional wellbeing.

Taking time to check in with yourself, rest, and seek support when needed are all important parts of caring for your overall health.
