Therapy can feel daunting when myths and misunderstandings get in the way. Many people delay seeking help because of stigma, or because they believe therapy isn’t “for them.”

In reality, therapy is for anyone who wants to understand themselves better, cope with life’s challenges, or grow in new ways.

Today we’re busting four common myths about therapy:

1️⃣ Therapy is only for people with ‘serious’ problems.
2️⃣ Therapists just listen.
3️⃣ Seeking help is a sign of weakness.
4️⃣ It takes forever to see results.

The truth? Therapy is a collaborative process, built on courage, connection, and real, meaningful change.

Peace and gratitude are deeply connected. When we pause to notice what we’re thankful for, a conversation, a cup of tea, a kind word, we create small islands of calm in our day.

On World Gratitude Day and the International Day of Peace, we reflect on the gentle power of appreciation. Even in challenging times, gratitude can help us feel more grounded, more connected, and more at peace with ourselves and others.

🌿 What’s one small thing you’re grateful for today?

Movement is one of the simplest, most effective tools we have for supporting our wellbeing. On National Fitness Day, we’re reminded that exercise isn’t just about strength or stamina, it’s also about mental clarity, reduced stress, and improved mood.

That doesn’t mean hours in the gym. A walk in the park, gentle stretching, or dancing in your kitchen can all make a difference.

Small steps add up. However you choose to move today, know that you’re supporting both your body and your mind.

Every journey looks different, but at the heart of our work is the same commitment: to walk alongside you, at your pace, with empathy and respect.

“I just want to say thank you so very much for all your help and guidance, Jan, you are absolutely fantastic and I’m glad I connected with you. I have told the WPA I highly recommend you if they ever get someone that needs a therapist in that area. You really have helped me think more and understand the way I have been, onwards and upwards all thanks to you, I am getting stronger all the time and life feels good for a change.”

Thank you to each person who trusts us with their story. Your courage inspires us every day.

Books carry a quiet kind of power. When we open their pages, we step into a space where emotions can be explored safely, lessons unfold through characters, and calm moments can be shared.

For children, reading together can spark conversations about feelings, worries, and hopes. For adults, books can offer comfort, escape, or a fresh perspective during challenging times.

On International Literacy Day, we’re reminded that a simple story can be a doorway to understanding and a gentle tool for supporting wellbeing.

Which book has brought you comfort or insight?

"Before I met Aileen, I went through some difficult experiences with mental health services and worried that no one would be able to understand me or help me. I was struggling with my relationship with food and my body, scared of my own thoughts, and had recently received a diagnosis of autism.

Aileen did a wonderful job of helping me to understand my identity as an autistic person, and to discover the person I could be when I let go of my fears. Aileen has such a compassionate approach and was always eager to help me feel more comfortable, whilst empowering me to face uncomfortable things that would really help in the long run.

I learned so much on my journey with Aileen, she has an abundance of wisdom to share. The difference in my mood and thinking in just under a year is incredible, and I wouldn't hesitate to seek Aileen's support again in the future!"

Thank you for trusting us with your story.

Today we celebrate Makaton International Awareness Day, marking the birthday of Margaret Walker, one of the creators of the Makaton system.

Makaton empowers people with communication to connect, express themselves, and be understood.

Every sign, every symbol, every gesture helps break down barriers and build inclusion.

Learning even a few Makaton signs can make a world of difference.

Let’s raise awareness, celebrate inclusive communication, and make sure every voice, in every form, is valued.

Every victory has a story and often, it’s not just about talent or luck. It’s about persistence when the road gets hard.

Today is Never Give Up Day. A day to:

✔ Share your journey and inspire others
✔ Tell someone ‘I’ll never give up on you’
✔ Celebrate resilience in all its forms

Determination isn’t just a trait - it’s a muscle. The more we use it, the stronger we become.

The first full week back at school can be a lot.

Here’s a 60-second mindful check-in you can try right now:

✔ How does your body feel?
✔ What emotions are present?
✔ What thoughts are passing through?

No judgement, just awareness.

You deserve moments of calm, too.

New routines can feel exhausting, for children and parents.

Here’s one small tip you can try this weekend to make the first full week back a little smoother:

Create a gentle ‘evening wind-down’ ritual.

✔ Dim the lights an hour before bed
✔ Put away screens
✔ Read a short story or share three ‘good things’ from the day

When transitions feel predictable and calm, our brains feel safer, and mornings become less rushed.
