💚 Family Time at Loch Lomond 💚

Yesterday was looking like our last day of sunshine and dry weather for a good while. So, I managed to get the kids away from their screens, they weren’t happy at first! But, once in the car with the music flowing and chat. I could see their wee happy faces, enjoy our beautiful Scottish scenery. Wow we are incredibly lucky to have these stunning scenes right on our doorstep. It always takes my breath away, always!
Not long after we had left and arrived at the beautiful banks of Loch Lomond. I could feel my body much calmer and happier. I love being outdoors, and spending time with the special people in my life makes it the best time ever. It has been too long since we have been to this special part of Scotland. Listen to your body, because:

Just a wee stroll outside can:
💚 Calm the nervous system
💚 Boost mood & energy
💚 Support better sleep
💚 Reduce stress hormones

Being outside together was pure bliss, the kids were delighted and didn’t once ask for ???? you know what! The drive home was great fun, as I tried desperately to name that song in a music quiz, the kids were brilliant, me not so much !

🥑 5 Nutrition Tips for Female Fertility Health 🥚

What you eat plays a HUGE role in reproductive health! Here are five key nutrition tips to support fertility naturally. 💕✨

1️⃣ Fuel with Healthy Fats 🥑 – Omega-3s from foods like salmon, walnuts, and flaxseeds support hormone production and egg quality. Avoid trans fats found in processed foods!

2️⃣ Focus on Protein Balance 🍳 – Plant-based proteins (lentils, beans, nuts) are linked to better fertility. Swap some animal proteins for plant sources to boost reproductive health.

3️⃣ Choose Slow Carbs 🌾 – Whole grains, quinoa, and sweet potatoes help regulate blood sugar and prevent insulin spikes that can disrupt ovulation.

4️⃣ Boost Antioxidants 🍓 – Berries, leafy greens, and colorful veggies fight oxidative stress, protecting eggs from damage and improving overall fertility.

5️⃣ Get Enough Iron & Folate 🥬 – Leafy greens, beans, and fortified cereals help prevent ovulatory issues and prepare the body for a healthy pregnancy.

Your fertility starts on your plate! 🍽️💖 Which of these do you already include in your diet? Drop a 🍏 in the comments!

An easy Silent Reflux Tip

Sleep on your left-hand side. 🛌 When you sleep on your left-hand side the stomach position changes making it harder for the stomach contents to flow back up in the throat.

If you are experiencing reflux issues then as an accredited reflux practitioner I can help with this. Pop the word REFLUX in the comments and I will share the details.

Struggling with Dry Mouth? 💦 Here's How to Boost Saliva & Stay Comfortable!

Do you have a lack of saliva?

There are many reasons you may have a lack of saliva including some medical conditions and many medications. Having a lack of saliva can make chewing and swallowing food 🥦 a challenge.

Ensuring a good level of hydration 💦 is critical for saliva production. Drinking more water 💦 throghout the day can be really helpful. If this doesn’t work then there are many saliva substitutes available that can help with production especially around mealtimes. One of my favourites is a product called xylimelts that stay stuck to the inside of the cheek for up to 12 hours and allowing you to eat, drink talk and sleep in comfort.

Chew Your Way to Better Digestion: Why Slowing Down Matters!
Chewing Tip 3!

In this final and most important post on the importance of chewing I want to highlight the importance of taking the time to chew until food is almost a baby food-like consistency. 🦷➡️🥗 Taking time to eat and chew properly is really important, a helpful tip is to put down your knife and fork between mouthfuls. 🍽️🦷 Rather than racing 🏁 to finish a meal allow more time to chew, savour, and enjoy. Your stomach will thank you. ❤️😍🥦👏

Chewing matters Tip 2
Don’t Skip Those Important Dental Checkups, Your Gut Will Thank You! 👨‍⚕️🪥

In our last post, we discussed the importance of chewing. It is important to note that in order to effectively chew our food we need to look after our mouths. Regular checkups at the dentist and focussing on oral hygiene are really important in ensuring we give our stomachs the best chance possible of healthy digestion.

Make sure to keep up with dental checkups and protect your teeth with good oral hygiene.. your stomach will thank you.

Do you need to book a checkup?

Chewing matters! ❤️
The role of the mouth in digestion:
The next phase of digestion after the cephalic phase takes place in the mouth. Saliva and enzymes contained within it starts to break down the starches in food 🥗🍗and continues the process. The more we chew the more we breakdown our food. The physical process of chewing our food 🥓🍳helps with mechanical processing of foods to give our stomach a helping hand.
Want to have a bit of fun? Chew on a piece of bread 🍞 for as long as you can and see how long it takes to taste really sweet. I am not promising it will taste like chocolate 🍫 but it will be a revelation.
More on chewing in the next post keep a close 👁️ out.

I'm always amazed and delighted with the progress clients can make in just a short time. A client whom I've been working with for 6 weeks, told me at her 2nd follow-up that her usual 2-3 headaches a week which she had been suffering with for years had significantly reduced, she only had 1 last month. These headaches were debilitating at times for this client. Such a great win for her. Also that her skin with Acne had improved as had her energy. This amazing progress was due to her commitment and focus on making smart healthy changes to her life. Delighted to have had this lovely feedback from her below.

"Working with Paula has been a blessing. I had been struggling with my skin and relentless headaches for years and since making changes to my diet and lifestyle, my skin is clearing, my headaches have significantly reduced and I have more energy to get me through the day. If we meet an obstacle or something which doesn't work for me, Paula is great at thinking outside the box to create a plan that's tailored to me and that's what makes this lifestyle change sustainable. I'm delighted I found her!"

Amazing work Debbie Grayson is doing with educating many on the side effects and over use of PPI's.

Pharmacist Deborah Grayson has warned of 'rebound reflux', which happens when the medication makes the problem worse, making patients more dependent on it.

Foods to support the cephalic response. 🥦🌶️

Have you ever been to a restaurant and had a steak 🥩 to find an unceremonious lump of rocket on your plate? Do you eat it or do you scowl at it?

Rocket as well as being decorative can help with the process of digestion. As a very bitter leaf rocket can support the production of stomach acid, bile, and digestive enzymes which all help to break down your food.

Whilst it will help as part of the meal it is also hugely beneficial in stimulating the cephalic response. Going Ermintrude (if you remember the magic roundabout 😀) and chewing on some rocket 20-30 minutes before a meal can help with triggering that digestive process.

Whilst it may seem a little odd it is hugely effective. If you suffer with your digestion I highly recommend you give it a try and see for yourself.
Alternative foods include nettle, broccoli 🥦, watercress, chicory, and bitter chocolate. 🍫
