Sadly, someone suffers a stroke every five minutes in the UK – but there are some simple things that we can all do to reduce our risk. This Stroke Awareness Month, we’re sharing the inspiring story of a Slimming World member who lost 4st 1lb after a stroke scare motivated him to turn his health around. Did you know… Food Optimising is more effective than calorie counting! Research by the University of Leeds shows that after 14 weeks of Food Optimising, Slimming World members lost nearly 13lbs, compared to calorie counters who lost just over 7lbs (over the same period of time!)

If you have been a Slimming World member before, the prospect of returning can feel daunting, even though you want to.

Things you may have said to yourself in the past:
⏺ They will see me as a failure.
⏺ I need to lose a little bit before I go back.
⏺ What will they think? Here they are again!

Honestly, it couldn’t be further from the truth…rejoining Slimming World will be the best thing you do and it will feel like coming home! Welcomed with warmth and encouraged to succeed!

My wish for any potential returning members: don’t hold back on your dreams, come home and enjoy the journey. 🤩😍

I always feel that this is the best time of year to get started on something new – or renew my commitment to something I've been putting off for a while. After all, the first few sprouts of Spring remind me that Summer is just around the corner.

A study from -of-Lincoln has revealed that people who lose weight as part of a Slimming World group lose an average of 2st 5lbs more weight overall, and can increase their mental toughness more than those who chose to go it alone. Over six months of attending a Slimming World group, slimmers showed increased scores in control, commitment, challenge and confidence – otherwise known as the 4Cs, the characteristics of mental toughness developed by Professor Peter Clough 🙌. Maybe you've gone way off track, put your weight back on and feel like you've lost that smile again? 😟
Maybe you were planning to come back sooner but things have spiralled and now you're feeling a bit awkward about coming back? 🙄
Whatever your reasons please know that you are not on your own. 😘 Lots of us have been there...including myself...so we really do know how you feel. ☺️

It’s hydration week so let’s talk about water! A common question is “do I need to drink water in order to burn fat?” The answer is no - water doesn’t cause us to lose weight, nor does it help us to burn fat better.

6-8 mugs or glasses of fluid each day is the ideal for good hydration. Any drink counts, apart from alcohol (sorry). With Slimming World you can enjoy unlimited sugar-free squash or fizzy drinks, tea, herbal tea, coffee and of course... water. While it’s important to sip away throughout the day increasing your fluid intake won’t affect your weight loss but it will help wonderfully with your digestion, keeping skin healthy and concentration too – which can be waning a little by the time we get to Friday! Breakfast - 40g Cheerios (Healthy b choice) with milk from semi skimmed allowance (250ml for healthy a choice)

Lunch was a fully on plan .
Removed the skin from the chicken, corn on the cob is free, spicy rice is 2.5syns for whole serving), macho peas are 1.5syns for whole serving. Broccoli is free and Coke Zero is free ❤️

Snack at group as I don’t eat tea until late -
are two for a healthy a choice.
The chicken pots from are both only half a syn each.

Tea once home from group was a concoction of tinned items 😂 including spicy taco beans from which are syn free!, mince, peppers, onions, tinned sweetcorn and tinned tomatoes, chucked in some paprika and chilli powder to give it a kick :)

Chocolate fix before going to bed was an Options hot chocolate honeycomb flavour for 2syns and a giant chocolate snack a jack for 3syns.

Absolutely loved being on plan yesterday and already feel so much better for it 💕
