💗 Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2025 💗

As an Advanced Nurse Practitioner in Breast Care for NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, I’m proud to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month - a time to remind everyone how vital early detection is.

1 in 7 women in the UK will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime - but early detection saves lives.
Checking your breasts regularly means you’re more likely to notice any unusual changes early.

Here are a few simple tips for self-checks:
👋 Look – Stand in front of a mirror with your arms by your side, then raised. Look for any changes in shape, size, skin, or ni**le appearance.
🤲 Feel – Using the flat of your hand, feel all parts of your breast, armpit, and up to your collarbone. You’re feeling for any new lumps, thickening, or unusual texture.
💬 Report – If you notice anything new or different, no matter how small, speak to your GP or local breast clinic.

🔍 Remember: Breast cancer can affect anyone - women, men, and people of all ages. Get to know what’s normal for you, and never hesitate to seek advice.

This month and every month, be breast aware.

Inspiring and brave, this beautiful lady shares her breast cancer story highlighting the importance of breast screening.
Ladies please always take up the opportunity to attend for your breast screening, early detection is key 😘💞🎀

Meet Liz Thomas, a retired NHSGGC staff member who is on a mission to tell women: ‘Never miss your breast screening appointment’.

Liz was diagnosed with breast cancer in November 2024 and has since had treatment. She said: “I have a good life and a great life ahead. Who knows if I’d have that if I hadn’t gone for screening?

“I tell everyone, my daughter, my friends, even the girl who does my nails, never miss your breast screening appointment."

Liz has been photographed as part of an exhibition to celebrate the resilience, beauty, and strength of women affected by breast cancer for the Pink Ribbon Foundation

The Bold Expo is on display now at Princes Square by M. Entry is free, giving everyone the opportunity to witness this inspiring and empowering project.
