Hello Sunshine 🌞

What a difference the sunshine makes 🌞

As lovely as it is to see the sunshine, we need to remember to protect our eyes from the suns harmful rays, and that includes children.

Did you know children's eyes are more sensitive to UV rays? That's why it's so important to choose sunglasses that look great but also provide the protection they need.

As a Dispensing Optician, I'm fully qualified to dispense glasses and sunglasses to children under 16 — meaning you get peace of mind knowing your child’s eyewear is selected and fitted just for them

When was your last eye examination?

In Scotland you are entitled to a Free NHS Eye examination.

Usually this is every 2 years, however some patients will fall into the category of an annual examination such as over 60/under 16 and diabetic patients.

Regular eye examinations are important not only to check the health of your eyes, but also to make sure you are wearing the correct prescription for your eyes.

Your local Opticians/Optometrist will carry out your free NHS eye examination.

After your eye test you will be issued with a copy of the test results, which you can take to any opticians to choose your new glasses from.

WORLD OPTOMETRY DAY 23rd March 2025

World Optometry Day aims to raise awareness about the importance of eye health and the role optometrists play in providing vision care. It highlights the importance of regular eye exams, the prevention of eye diseases, and the promotion of good eye care practices.

In Scotland you are entitled to a free NHS eye test, contact your local optometrist to check if you are due a new eye test.
