Yoga Building Blocks - Thursdays at 6.30pm

Dear Movers, Catherine is back this week holding the space, while Kat and Kate are still in the sun on retreat with Kia Naddermier (more information on her weekend workshop in Glasgow soon).

Yoga Building Blocks

Catherine's class is designed to help you establish the foundations of a confident, strong and precise practice. It focuses on the absolute fundamentals of yoga, working through the details of the basic postures, looking at variations and modifications.

These classes are accessible to everyone wanting to improve or begin a yoga practice, getting it right from the ground up.

Dear movers, thank you, it was lovely to see you last week.

This coming week we have a bit of a reduced timetable so catch your classes early in the week:

- Beginners Ashtanga on Monday
- Guided Ashtanga on Tuesday
- Breathing Bones on Wednesday

Kat and Kate are joining Kia Naddermeir on a one week retreat in Crete from Saturday 6th September, and Catherine is taking care of a knee injury this coming week. We'll all be back soon, please keep an eye on the timetable over the next couple of weeks.

We're back after our summer break

The Arlington Baths has been closed longer than planned, so we've been away longer than we hoped.

Now we're back and really looking forward to seeing everyone. Whether you are new to our classes or returning after these weeks of holiday, we hope you are ready to join us at class again soon, and enjoy moving.

Ashtanga Yoga and Breathing Bones

Join us for Kat's next Sunday Special.

We'll be exploring postures that lift the heart, awaken the spine and help us to soften into back bends both gentle and more challenging, safely and supported.

We start workshop-style where Kat will lead us through some practices informed by Ashtanga yoga, and then reset and relax with Breathing Bones. Perfect for all levels.

Catherine draws on so much knowledge to help you find your own, individual route towards these yoga poses - definately no one-size-fits-all.

Extra time for Breathing Bones

Thursday 24th April, 7pm - 8.30pm

At the end of April Kat's Breathing Bones is on a Thursday and at a later time than usual. It's an extra long treat this week. More time to release and let go, and a very special long relaxation to bring the class to a close.

This might be the week for you to do as many of your busy things before class, so that you can really sink into this time knowing you've done what you need to do and you can return home relaxed and ready for early bed.

Breathing Bones
Originally devised by our beloved Rosina Bonsu, is a mindful and meditative movement practice. It offers you time to tune into the sensations of your body through a series of relaxed postures and placements of the body, predominantly lying on the mat. Together with the breath and gravity these aim to free the joints, release the muscles, realign the skeletal structure and balance the body. It is suitable for all levels and age.

Beginners Ashtanga

Dear Movers, we've got a new weekly class starting next week

Monday 27th January, 6pm - 7.15pm

Whether you are new to yoga, new to ashtanga, or just prefer taking more time, this is a class that takes things at a slower pace.

We will be working within the structure of the Ashtanga primary series: yoga postures that you’ll recognise from lots of other styles of yoga, strung together in a sequence that includes standing, seated, back bending and balancing postures.

There will be time to break down the postures, look at variations, and build a flowing practice where we synchronise breath with movement, and begin to memorise the sequence.

We will be getting to grips with the basics of forward folds, twisting, back bending and of course balancing and being upside down!

This is an informal class, with lots of demonstration, time for questions, and a good relaxation at the end of class.

Sunday Special: Ashtanga Yoga and Breathing Bones

Dear Movers, we’ve got dates for you for Sunday goodness from now until June.

First up: Sunday 9th February, 10am – 12pm

Join us for Kat’s two-hour Sunday special, a double bill of Ashtanga Yoga and Breathing Bones

The first hour is workshop style, giving us extra time to look at some of the principles that show up in yoga postures.

Then we’ll have a full hour of our own, very special, Breathing Bones class, to unwind into the rest of your Sunday afternoon.

This is the best start to a Sunday morning, whether you’ve been to our yoga classes or not, looking for more in-depth explorations, or just the luxury of Breathing Bones on a Sunday morning.

If you have time, please stay and join us for a cup of tea and lots of chat after class

Happy New Year movers

We're back this week, and we've got lots coming up in the first few months of the year, which we hope you can join us for, and maybe your friends and family might like to join you too?

If you need a reminder check The Timetable for our regular classes on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings, and Saturday mornings.

And since it's our first week back we've got Yin Yoga starting straight away: Catherine's fortnightly class starts this Thursday at 5pm
