On the first weekend of May, as spring was at its peak, we decided to tie the knot in a beautiful Celtic ceremony, barefoot in the Scottish Highlands.
We rented a stunning mansion with our families and had a small, intimate gathering in the wild grass by the loch. It was wild, authentic, barefoot on the land, and so deeply connected to the elements. It could not have felt more magical.
Our family helped create an altar and an aisle made of sticks and logs. Chad surprised me by writing a song for me as I walked down the aisle with my mother by my side. My brother Nathan, who we lived with for the past year, held the ceremony for us.
We had two handfasting ties that each of our parents blessed before tying our hands together. We read our own vows to each other, and our family blessed our rings in circle before we placed them on each other’s fingers.
Bringing our families together was such a joy. There was so much laughter, and each person contributed to this weekend in such a special way. We feel so blessed and deeply loved.
Even though we missed having extended family and our close friends there, it felt so sacred to share something this intimate with the land, the elements, and our family. I felt so present and so in love with the man I am choosing to walk through life with.
An unforgettable weekend ❤️🌹✨️
