Do you ever lie awake at night wishing you could just switch off? Thoughts racing, mind replaying the day, the conversations, what was said or what you wish you had said, analysing everything.
I know this well. It used to be my constant state… sleepless nights, overthinking, unable to find stillness.
What I came to realise is that when the body doesn’t feel safe, it won’t let you rest. The mind steps in, looping on conversations, worrying about the future, making lists… all as a way to keep you in survival. Your system learnt this to protect you.
So often, this is not about a busy mind at all. It’s about unhealed experiences that the body never had the chance to release. Trauma that was never held in loving space stays alive in the nervous system, keeping it on high alert.
Yes, worry and stress are part of being human, but they don’t have to be your constant state. You can gently release what your body is holding, rewire the coping mechanisms, and return to your natural state of calm.
For me, learning how to regulate my nervous system changed everything. I can manage stress differently now. I can sleep at night. I can switch the mind off and come back into stillness.
