Brazilian Bum Lift Evolution - what you need to know! β¨
Brazilian Bum Lift (BBL) procedures have skyrocketed in popularity, thanks to celebs like Kim Kardashian championing the hourglass figure. πβ¨
At Elanic, we've been safely performing BBLs since 2013. However, safety concerns about procedures performed abroad led to alarming fatality rates, once believed to be as high as 1:2500 due to fat embolism. π¨ In 2018, the British Association of Plastic Surgery (BAAPS) recommended a pause on BBLs for a thorough safety review.
Our Medical Director, Mr. Sivarajan, a BAAPS member, supported this decision. During this period, Elanic ceased offering BBLs to prioritize patient safety.
In 2022, BAAPS released new guidelines distinguishing BBL from Gluteal Lipofilling. The key difference? Fat placement. BBL involves injecting fat into the buttock muscles, increasing risk. Gluteal Lipofilling places fat above the muscle, significantly lowering risks. BAAPS now recommends ultrasound guidance for this procedure. ππ
Elanic has always practiced safe methods, never injecting fat into muscles. Post-guidelines, we resumed offering Gluteal Lipofilling, ensuring top safety standards. πͺβ€οΈ
Lately, the rise of "liquid BBLs" has raised red flags. This trend is largely unregulated and often performed in non-clinical settings by unqualified individuals. π« Elanic applauds actions by local Environmental Health Boards in Glasgow and Edinburgh to curb these dangerous practices.
With 13+ years in cosmetic and non-surgical fields, Elanic remains committed to prioritizing patient safety in all our decisions. πβ¨
Stay informed. Stay safe. Trust Elanic. π
