A huge thank you to the amazing Daniel Handy from our Community Engagement Team and Shabir Begg OBE for organising such an inspiring event as we celebrate Glasgow’s 850th birthday and shine a spotlight on the lifesaving work happening across our communities 💙

Yesterday we celebrated the phenomenal efforts of Saltire, Alam, St Andrew’s First Aid, and our Emergency Services, all working together to raise awareness of CPR within ethnically diverse communities.

This work is breaking down barriers, building confidence and ensuring no one is ever discriminated against when it comes to saving a life, or having their own life saved.

In 2025, St Andrew’s First Aid partnered with Shabir Begg OBE as Community Engagement Ambassador, continuing the commitment made in 2023 to make lifesaving skills accessible to everyone.

Since then, over 1,800 people from ethnically diverse backgrounds have received first aid and CPR education and already 965 more in 2025 alone. This is what real, community-led change looks like. 🙌

A massive thank you to all our inspiring speakers who shared their insight, personal stories, passion and vision for a safer, more inclusive Scotland:

⭐ Cllr Baillie Dr Soryia Siddique

⭐ Public Health Scotland

⭐ His Excellency Sammar Javed, Consul General of Pakistan

A huge thank you to all our incredible volunteers who joined us at Shaping the Future of St Andrew’s last Saturday! 🙌💙

From the moment everyone arrived over tea and coffee to the final goodbyes at 10pm, the day was filled with energy, connection, and purpose.

Volunteers from across Scotland came together, not just for an inspiring programme, but for genuine community, great conversations, and a brilliant evening that naturally evolved into a full-on social event.

A special highlight was the engaging session led by our new CEO, Derek Robertson, who shared exciting insights into the future direction of St Andrew’s First Aid.

His vision, combined with the passion of our volunteers, truly showcased what’s possible when we all pull together.

This gathering wasn’t just an event, it was a milestone in shaping the future of St Andrew’s. Your ideas, your voices, and your enthusiasm will play a key part in what comes next.

Here are a few snaps from a day that reminded us why our volunteer community is the heart of everything we do. 💛

Thank you again for your time, your passion, and your commitment. Together, we’re building something amazing. 🚑✨

🎉We’re incredibly excited to kick off our new partnership this weekend with the Scottish Grocers' Federation and Baba's Kitchen, led by Abdul Majid MBE.

Together, we’re working to ensure that every convenience store across Scotland not only has a publicly accessible defibrillator but that local communities know it’s there, feel confident using it, and have access to the training they need.

A huge thank-you to Abdul for taking the lead and organising a CPR/AED training session for his community in Bellshill. Our thanks also go to Scottish Ambulance Service Paramedics Kat and Tom for their fantastic support in helping us deliver the session.🙌

And a special thank-you to Daniel from our Community Engagement team for his dedication and hard work in making this partnership launch such a success. 👏

At St Andrew's First Aid, our mission is to build a nation of lifesavers, ensuring everyone in Scotland has the chance to learn how to save a life, we are so excited for the future of this partnership!💙

Here are your field team from last night’s iconic match! 🏟️💙

We’re not saying our volunteers are the best good-luck charms… but they’re definitely close😉

Always ready to jump in during an emergency and help those in need, and yes, they even made it onto the big screen after helping with that first-half injury!

The professionalism they uphold and the effort they bring are incredible.

Well Done Scotland, you were AMAZING! We did it!

So lucky to be part of a historic night at Hampden Park and proud to be your first aid cover, always.

This Remembrance Sunday...

We pause to reflect and remember our fellow members of St Andrew’s First Aid who gave their lives in service to our country.

Many of these brave men and women served in Civil Defence roles, their skills honed through St Andrew’s, and tragically, many lost their lives as a result of that service.

May we always honour their memory and the sacrifice of all who have defended our freedoms and protected our way of life.

Our volunteers have been representing St Andrew's First Aid across the country today from Wishaw to London, laying wreaths, being part of parades and attending ceremonies to remember those who lost their lives. We are so proud and honoured to have been part of this.

Lest We Forget ❤️

You Glow Guys!!🥹⭐💫✨

THANK YOU to our amazing volunteers who have been providing First Aid cover at bonfire and fireworks displays across Scotland!

📍 This fab photo was taken at the Strathaven Bonfire Night, just one of the many events where our teams have been out supporting the public.

To everyone on duty tonight (and throughout the winter season) we truly couldn’t do it without you.

Stay safe tonight everyone, and thank you for keeping Scotland safe!👏

Happy Bonfire Night 2025 from all of us at St Andrew’s First Aid! 🎇🧡

Remember, fireworks and fun go hand in hand, but staying safe keeps the night bright and brilliant! 🌟

Stay safe, and please SHARE these tips to help everyone enjoy a sparkling, accident-free celebration.

Here are our top First Aid tips to help you enjoy the celebrations without any unexpected sparks:

1️⃣ Keep Your Distance:

Always stand well back from fireworks and bonfires, follow the safety barriers and never return to a firework once it’s been lit. 🚫

2️⃣ Cool Those Burns:

If someone gets a burn, cool it under running water for 20 minutes.

Cover the burn with cling film or a clean plastic bag and never apply creams or butter! 🩹💧

3️⃣ Sparkler Smarts:

Sparklers can reach 2,000°C! Hold them at arm’s length, wear gloves, and keep a bucket of water nearby for safe disposal. ✨🧤

4️⃣ Pet Patrol:

Keep pets indoors, loud bangs can frighten them. Create a cosy, quiet space to help them feel safe. 🐶🐱

5️⃣ Wrap Up & Be Seen:

It’s chilly and dark, wear warm layers and reflective clothing so you can stay cosy and visible. 🌙🧣

6️⃣ Supervise the Small Sparks:

Keep a close eye on children at all times around fireworks, sparklers, and bonfires. Little hands + big sparks = need for extra care! 🧒🔥

7️⃣ Emergency Know-How:

In case of serious burns, breathing problems, or eye injuries, call 999 immediately and follow First Aid advice while waiting for help. 🚑📞

🎃MWAHAHAHAHA! 👻

Happy Halloween 2025 from all of us at St Andrew’s First Aid! 🧡🕸️🧛‍♀️

Halloween is spooktacular fun, but even the best fright nights can bring a few unexpected tricks! 🕷️

Here are our top First Aid tips to help you keep things spooky, safe, and smiley this Halloween:

1️⃣ Flame-Free Frights:

Swap out candles for glow sticks, LED lights, or torches to keep your decorations glowing safely.

🎃 If you do get a burn, cool it under running water for 20 minutes.

2️⃣ Treats Before Tricks:

Before little ghouls and goblins dig into their loot, check for choking hazards.

😱 In an emergency, give 5 back blows followed by 5 abdominal thrusts to clear the airway.

3️⃣ Stranger Safety:

Remind your little monsters never to enter a stranger’s house, even for treats, without an adult. 🚪👀

4️⃣ Allergy Awareness:

If your child has allergies, double-check their sweets or go trick-or-treating together. 🎃

It’s perfectly okay to say no to treats with known allergens. 🍬🚫

5️⃣ Carving with Care:

Leave pumpkin carving to adults (or supervised teens)! 🕯️

Use carving kits, work on a stable surface, and keep hands and tools dry. No rushing, even witches take their time! 🧙‍♀️✨

6️⃣ Costume Control:

Keep hems short and accessories secure to avoid trips and tumbles.

🩹 If cuts or grazes happen, clean and cover them to keep away infection.

🎉 Have a fang-tastic Halloween, stay safe, have fun, and don’t forget to share these tips to help keep Halloween accident-free!
