Together, we’re a force for good. By offering postgraduate medical education, examinations and assessments, as well as continuing professional development, our Fellows and Members are equipped to deliver the best possible care and medical practice that Scotland has to offer. College has a long history of excellence and innovation in medicine, and continues to develop its sound reputation world-wide. Our growing collegiate body is unique to the UK. It includes professionals in surgery, medicine, dentistry, and travel medicine. As a multidisciplinary body with over 14,000 members across all five continents, our footprint for improving health is considerable. College is however more than a place of professional learning and development for the Medical Community. It is a historical site, a charity, a place of work, an information provider, and a body that influences governments and public policy.

One week today until our early International Women's Day Celebration event.

The theme this year is 'when we give, we gain' and we've started our collection for Dress For Success Scotland. The charity supports women into a career by providing professional clothing, a network of support and personal skills to help them thrive in work as well as in life.

Join us for an evening recognising the impact and collective strength of all women. We encourage you to bring along any pre-loved workwear as part of our College donation if you can.

Our College President Professor Hany Eteiba was honoured with a lifetime achievement award at the Study UK Alumni Awards held at the British Embassy in Cairo last week.

On receiving the award, President Eteiba said: "I was born and educated in Cairo, Egypt, a country with a long tradition of scholarship and respect for learning. I later made my professional home in Glasgow, a city that welcomed me, challenged me and ultimately placed its trust in me.

“I am deeply honoured to receive this Lifetime Achievement Award."

Earlier in the month, President Eteiba was awarded with an Honorary Fellowship of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan at the International Medical Education Conference in Karachi.

He said: “I am humbled by the reception I have received from these prestigious organisations and the global Fellows and Members I have had the pleasure of meeting on my travels.”
