Scotland is raising the bar for aesthetics — and rightly so.

New legislation passed by the Scottish Parliament is set to bring tighter regulation to non-surgical procedures, with greater protection for patients and clearer accountability across the sector. It is intended to ensure oversight by appropriately registered professionals and that relevant procedures are carried out in regulated premises. 

As a healthcare professional, I fully support this.

Aesthetic treatments are medical in nature and should never be trivialised. Proper assessment, safe prescribing, clinical knowledge, anatomy, complication management and appropriate premises all matter.

Patients deserve safe hands.
They deserve ethical care.
They deserve properly qualified professionals.

This is a positive step forward for Scotland and for the future of safer aesthetics.
