Day 3 of Scottish Learning Disability Week and what a day it's been! The wonderful Keynotes had folks dancing and singing along at Silverburn Shopping Centre in Glasgow. There are unconfirmed reports that people could be seen doing The Slosh (IYKYN) 😄

We hosted our Annual General Meeting which, as always, had amazing inputs from people we support through their involvement with TAG (The Advisory Group) and our tenants through the ever-growing My Home Group. The AGM is also always an opportunity to show how people we support and our tenants are involved at the heart of decision-making in our organisation.

Scottish Commission for People with Learning Disabilities

On Day 2 of Scottish Learning Disability Week it was a real privilege to host the New Routes Home 'No Time to Waste' event. It provided an opportunity to acknowledge how too many people with learning disabilities and autistic people continue to live in institutional settings. Most importantly, it was a chance to hear from families for whom this is the reality for their loved ones and they live with its impact daily.

Their experiences, alongside those of professionals, form the basis of two new toolkits launched at the event. One is aimed at professionals, the other at families, and together they offer alternative approaches to moving people out of long-stay hospital into community-based settings. We are here and we are so looking forward to the start of the Scottish Commission for People with Learning Disabilities Scottish Learning Disability Week on Monday. What you can expect from us during the week:

Monday - Friday: Stories of the amazing achievements of people we support.
Tuesday: We're delighted to be hosting the launch of In Control Scotland 's 'New Routes Home' Toolkit.
Wednesday: The Keynotes perform at Shop Silverburn (from 11:30 until 12:15).

Many happy returns to George, who is celebrating his 70th birthday today. Surrounded by family and friends he enjoyed a lovely meal and blew out the candles on his incredible retro radio themed cake 🎉

Life is about embracing all kinds of experiences, from the ordinary to the not so ordinary. Which is exactly what Adam, Rebecca and Donna have been doing recently:

Adam enjoyed a birthday trip to Glasgow Science Centre where he explored the wonders of science.

Rebecca got up close and personal with some animals during her zookeeper for the day experience at Edinburgh Zoo. She was happy to her hands dirty too, helping staff to feed and care for some of the zoo's most famous residents.

Donna took to her local beach where she soaked up the last rays of summer and appreciated some incredible big sky views.

At Key we know first hand about the pressures facing social care and not-for-profit providers like us, and, more importantly, how these negatively impact the lives of disabled people and their families.

We added our name alongside over 200 third sector providers to this letter calling on the First Minister, John Swinney MSP , and The Scottish Government to take immediate action to address the current crisis and secure a brighter future for everyone's lives who are touched by the sector.

Yesterday was Lorna's birthday and looks like she got spoiled rotten with lots of pressies to open.

And today was Paul and Pam's 20th wedding anniversary. They had a lovely tea for friends and family. Plus they enjoyed a wee anniversary waltz💃🏼🕺🏼
